Here's what we're looking for:

  • True-life pranks. We take a broad view of "pranks" to include everything from the time you roped off a co-worker's desk with police tape, to the silly check you wrote to your phone company. We're looking for everything from practical jokes to to massive hoaxes, preferably with photos. [See example pranks here.]

  • True-life stunts. Anything that sounds "funny to try," like trying to pay for groceries with postage stamps, or trying to completely finish off the meat at one of those all-you-can-eat buffets. Think "What would happen if," as in "What would happen if you tried to return milk three months after you bought it?" [See example experiments here.]

Here's what we're not looking for:

  • Comedy essays or observational humor
  • Comedy stories that don't fit the criteria above
  • "Top Ten"-type lists, unless they can somehow fit the criteria above


Here's how it works:

To qualify, your article must meet these guidelines:

  • The story must be true
  • The story must have at least 2 photos (stock OK, but real photos preferred)
  • The story should not be published elsewhere on the Web
  • Articles must be submitted by August 31, 2009
  • Articles of at least 750 words recommended

If it's funny, you can get points, prizes, publicity, and PAYOLA. For your first article that has a four-ZUGZ rating or higher after one week, we pay $25.00. Once you are consistently publishing articles with four-ZUGZ ratings, you are eligible to join our exclusive A-List Writers Group, where you can earn much more money/publicity per article.
