To Eric's Friends,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this way, but my husband, Eric was killed early Friday morning in a traffic accident. A truck ran a red light and hit his car, killing him probably instantly.

He aways enjoyed coming here and regularly told me stories of all of your daily antics. Thank you for being a bright spot in his life.

It's too bad you didn't know him personally. He was a truely fine man. Funny, intellegent, a great husband and provider. He was buried yesterday afternoon. The service was so packed there were people standing outside the church. The entire front of the church was literally covered with flowers. One of his friends came all the way from England to be here for the service.

Contacting some of his friends has been like therapy for me. I know he would have wanted me to let you guys know as well.

He will be greatly missed. I have a huge hole in my life that I don't know if I'll ever be able to fill. Hug someone you love today. You are not promised tomorrow.

I guess this will be the last post you get from our little farm. Live well.

- Dawn

First off, being that this is Gab I must say that if this is some sort of joke, it's not funny.

Now that that's out of the way...

I don't think it's a joke. I'm very sorry to hear this. Eric (Chicken Man) was a good guy and a funny Gabber. Sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Thank you for letting us know.

I can't find what Chickenman used as a name most recently. The ---D part was added today.

If this is true, I'm terribly sorry. I hope it's just a very bad joke. I really do.

I'd rather be mad at him then have him gone.

Like his real name or where he was from?

With whom did he email communicate here? Did the wife send notices to the email address book list?

One of the voices is gone. They're not supposed to die. They are just voices, aren't they? We are all nothing but a gathering of whispers, until one is extinguished. Then maybe, for a time, we see there is much more.

This is a sad day.

Questions:

Did Chickens post primarily from work? If so, that would mean his wife is posting this from work, if the IP address is the same.

I tend to believe this is true, but given the nature of this place I'd like to be sure just so we don't all look like idiots.

In re: alt transport... yeah. I know what you mean. I bike walk and take the subway/commuter rail/buses, but I live in a Nurba Narea so I'm lucky thataway... when you live in the boonies like Mr. Chickens I guess you have a harder time finding such things. Plus it's not like biking is real safe either (commuter cyclists have better accident stats than cars but still, if someone runs a red light and hits you, there's nothing you can do to avoid it)...

very sad.

I was waiting for the bus today and I saw a woman either fall out of a car or get hit by a car--I couldn't tell from the angle I was standing at. She was ok though--just got up and limped up to the car that she fell out of/was hit by.

And the other day I was on a double-decker bus that ran into a ladder on a tall maintenance truck. The ladder went through the top front window of the upper deck. Fortunately nobody was sitting in that particular seat.

That way both quantity and quality may be tracked.

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee

Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;

For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow

Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,

Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,

And soonest our best men with thee do go,

Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.

Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,

And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,

And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well

And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?

One short sleep past, we wake eternally,

And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

I just ran out to Target at 9:30 tonight to grab some snack foods for work and some Iams for the Pug Dog (changing him to the all-natural food as soon as I move to SF).

Driving 45 on the surface streets is painful. Torture.

All of the above?
