Lemme see if I can get this...
Here's the (appreviated) table:
LOGINNAME POSTEDNAME IP MESSAGE
Here's what a normal post looks like
Sleestack Sleestack 207.94.100.200 "Hi! I'm a jerk!"
An imped post by me looks like this:
Sleestack BunnyFroster 207.94.100.200 "BWAHAHAHAHAH!"
The algorythm looks and compares the postedname with the username. If it matches, it builds the HTML as a profile link.
An anonymous poster looks like this:
NO_LOGIN Hater_of_Souls 232.231.22.114 "H8 H8 H8!"

Not sure what you've got against me, but I'm not the one flooding. I'm in agreement with the majority of the people here, this person needs to be banned or have something done to repremand them, because this kind of behavior is going way too far.
I've spoken to Mookie on AIM once not too long ago, and he knows who I am, and who I was. I'm not the person flooding the board.

I assumed that IP was not stored in the databse because it would be superfulous (that info is in the server log) and therefore an unneccessary use of space.
I am interested on knowing how you would consider a dial-up unregistered user to be traceable?
What happens if I use my laptop (which has never been on GAB) to dial in via AOL to a POP in North Dakota? How would you trace that back to me w/o AOL telling you my account info (if they knew) ?

I think it's pretty well established that AOL isn't that good about protecting user anonymity.
Most people don't use AOL or MSN and such, but have a local ISP, which has a fairly limited range of IPs, in which case the range of IPs can be blocked.

Yeah, Squeamish was The Anagram Man until God registered it.
Like I said, Squeamish, people always screw up. You could flood to your hearts content with a secondary dialup account, but there will be one time, one lonely time, that a scat porn thread will trip you up and you forget to switch IPs or logins. Again, ask Vlad if he remembers.

codeslave, i just have to say how awesome i think it is that you're not protecting this guy and letting us in on exactly how much havoc he's caused. i was pretty irked yesterday when it seemed like nothing was going to be done and the board was ruined until he got bored and stopped, but i really appreciate your efforts and candidness with us.
it's nice to have you back, even if it's just for a short while.

frankly, when he started posting as god, i both publicly and privately asked him to stop, and he publicly lambasted me, and privately teased me in an extremely ignorant and prejudiced manner. i was really close to changing my name to "Ogden Nash" to prove a point about how a name can be offensive to certain groups only, even ones which are of little representation in gab. but i decided it was beneath me. now is the happiest i've ever been in reading gab, starting as a lurk back in 2.0

i am just privately offended by it. i hold my religion sacred and direct blasphemy of it i find offensive. sorry, it's the way i am. but i was trying to be tolerant, which is why i made a direct and curteous appeal to him to not post as god. do you see how in the same way Ogden Nash just might bother some people?

If nothing is offensive, than nothing matters, and you should stop saying things that anyone asks to stop saying, for any reason whatsoever.
It's only the fact that we have values that means free speech matters. If we have values, then we can be offended.
I demand the right to censor YOU.

The funny (I guess) thing is that even though Postbear was wrong about the flooder being Kenshin, he'll never admit it or apologize because he thinks you ARE kenshin, which means YOU are the one who flooded the board, which means you're lying to us all.
He's funny that way.

-- scooter brown.
thanks, scooter. we don't always agree, but you're okay in my books too.
as for this whole mess: i'm glad it's over (if over it truly is). and nutbuster is correct -- i won't admit i'm wrong or apologize. the crimes that the poster known as god committed were no different than those committed by kenshin. board flooding and the creation of secondary and tertiary (and beyond) log-ins are part of the miserables idiot's pattern of behaviour. why ban god if a contradictory precedent was already set?
as for apologies, i suggest you stop holding your breath. as scooter pointed out, i had every reason to believe that extremely bad behaviour would originate with kenshin. those of you willing to forgive trespasses may do so all you like. those of you with short memories are also free to go about your business. there are a few of us here, however, who are otherwise inclined. and as it keeps Frost-ing up and the board gets flooded again, keep in mind that some of us have the sense to want it gone.
there's more to say, but let's get back to the humour.

As a footnote, anyone remember the "Ask Yiddle" thread where Yiddle busted himself by answering under his "real" log in? Someone called him and he fessed up.
