Frost! Frostity Frost Frost!
will this be submitted for "approval" or will it appear automatically as a new article?
are swearwords allowed under a certain subjective "acceptibility" criteria that's up to mr. hargrave?
and if so, what are these criteria?
and where will a man with a full-time job, a wife, a baby, and a used toyota camry find the time to moderate?
ponies.

I'm offended by your choice of language young lady.
At least have the common decency to include a "mother-Froster" in that rant.

We will not, as a rule, be approving articles that contain swearing if they are not funny.
I made an exception here.

It is a little known fact that John doesn't make a decision about Zug unless he consults with his trusty sock puppet.

"We will not, as a rule, be approving articles that contain swearing if they are not funny.

unless you're being sarcastic, that's unmitigated bullShakespeare, john.
made an exception why? to prove some point that moderating articles is somehow a "compromise" between allowing free speech and still controlling the "tone" of this board? suddenly the board, or at least the articles, are what you define as funny? what about one of stuby's rants against someone else? those are usually offensive in the extreme but we all know he's being funny. are you going to censor him if he starts an article with one of those rants? what about good-natured ribbing that defines this place? several threads yesterday alone i was called a Carroll, a bitch, told to shut up, etc. who the hell are you to make that kind of judgement call? thank god you're (at least for now) leaving threads the way they are.
and you can shove the popups that appear on articles right up your censor-loving arse.
bye.

Not sure what the big objection is. It just goes like this:
Conversations: Free-for-all, only moderation being automatic swear words replaced.
Articles: Submitted for GAB Staff approval. If you don't like your submission being judged in this manner, you can choose to not post a new Article.
By allowing swearing in the submitted articles, GAB staff can make the call if the person is using swearing in "proper context."
If Lenny Bruce was on stage doing his act, you'd expect him to be wonderfully profane. It's the right forum for it. If he's behind you on the bank line screaming the same dialogue, he's going to be considered pointlessly rude and annoying. It's all about context. Swearing is good in the right context.

Onion, you've always been a bitchy yeasty Carroll to me (and I treasure you for it...you've taught ME something about being mean) but you need to go to the bank and wire transfer about $500 worth of shut the Frost up to yourself.

Goodness, what a foul mouthed little Carroll you are. I must go now for the Ogden Nashes are at the door asking for some Coleridge and some Poe.

No. It was called for. But in your position you probably shouldn't openly malign the unfunny. It would kind of like a retard-class teacher calling the kids retards. Or something.
Anyways, allow me:
Onion, that's frickin' lame.

To tell you the truth, I suspect that the swearbot encourages swearing rather than discouraging it. I rarely swear in face-to-face communication. It's just not a good way to express yourself. Here, though, I've gotten into the habit of swearing just to see my naughtiness get turned into poet names. What an Emerson, huh?
