So there was I, sitting at the desk, humming quietly to myself in the normal library manner, when a bloke comes along to take out some books. He's walking sort of slowly, with a white stick grasped in his hand, and the vacant deathstare of our less visually capable friends. I was a bit confuddled why he'd take out books if he was blind, but I was kind and caring, issued him his magic BlindMan books, then said 'I'll pass them round to you, so they don't set off the alarm'. The alarm sounds like JacobPants on helium to the power of 10 meeellion, the only time when I value its existence is when a small child races through, clutching it's book, then decapitates itself on the unopened gate.
So I was attempting to pass him the books, while he stood there, with a look on his face that just yelled 'I am blind, I cannot see where the books are to reach for them, you, Miss, are a moron'. So I ended up literally forcing a book into his closed fist, saying 'Here you go, sir' through clenched teeth as a huge queue mounted up behind him. He then took his time, bagging his books, carefully placing his card back in his wallet, then turns to me, and, looking utterly confused, says 'I'm not blind'.
So what did I do? Why, I ran twelve staples into the centre of each of his eyeballs, of course. That'll teach him to carry around random pieces of pipe, probably for use in hanging a shower curtain, or perhaps preparing some garden accessory. Arr!
