Does Anybody Love Raymond?
A comedy conversation

It's supposedly the most popular show in the history of television, but I don't know anyone, anyone, who watches it. I watched a couple of episodes, and it was the most boring, bland, formulaic show I'd ever seen. It had absolutely nothing original. What's the deal?

Vlad agrees, Raymond sucks. Especially Raymond himself. His older goofy looking brother and insane mother steal the show.
Damn Vlad would like to snap that ladies neck in two.

Does anyone love Raymond?
NO
Some people make deadpan work...Raymond just isn't one of them.
Though they would make a good Adams Family cast if Raymond took a couple hits of speed.

My sister-in-law's boyfriend sounds exactly like Ray Ramano. He has the same nasally whining voice. He's a nice guy, but everytime he speaks, all I think about is "You remind me of that stupid ass Ramano and his Shakespearety sitcom."

Of all the standups who ever got a series deal, he is one of the ones who deserve it the least.

Declan,
The standup community agrees with you 100%, as I have heard several comics mention it between themselves, or give him flack directly, that he used to do the club circut with in earlier days.
(Yes, much much more than others that have risen up frrom those ranks in the past.)
He also isn't just well off now, he is filthy rich in comparison to a stand up comic.

There are many stupid people with lame senses of humor in this world. Take a look at these facts:
Jay Leno is the host of The Tonight Show still.
MadTV has been on television for more than one season.
Vlad has received over 1,400 ottos.
See Vlad's point?

Apparently, Raymond appeals to the late 6o's crowd, as my dad loves the show. "Best show on TV" he sez to me, to which I reply with a blank stare and an offhand comment that my real daddy must be the postman.

I love Raymond. Love his show and loved him in Ice Age.
Then again, we've only had the show on TV for a few seasons. Quite sure you guys must be moer toe by now.

His stand up act is fairly solid, but I haven't heard him change it much since I saw him before the show started. He does do some new funny stuff about his twin boys though.
Then again, he doesn't really have to work much on the stand up.
He is pulling 1.8 mil an episode (50 mil this season)
Must be more than chicken's dad watching !

My mom likes it but she lives alone with the TV her only companion. I've never seen it.
The last sitcom I viewed regulary was Sienfeld.

I can't recall the last sit com I saw an entire episode of either, but am I the only one that finds it a bit odd, that many tv actors/actresses study drama serriously for years sometimes, but so many standup comedians have little trouble stepping right into both tv and sometimes movies ?
I'm not mystified, but the ones that have honed their acting skills for years must get a bit miffed, don't you think?

You'd be right about that, it's the only reason Australia hasn't lodged any wars against anybody, we're all too busy hugging eachother in a matey fashion while proclaiming our love in a manly heterosexual way. All before lunch time.

I would imagine that the tree doesn't care about butt sex, so your friend is the one doing the fighting. Don't worry, Fartpuppy. My posts have a way of not making sense.

i stayed at my grandmother's place for a couple of months, and as she only had 13 or so channels (incl. 1 weather channel, 2 news channels, and 2 public access (or something)), i often caught syndicated reruns of everybody loves raymond. it's not the worst show i've ever seen, and i'd even go so far as to say that i enjoyed it.
it's way better than home improvement ever was, and people ate that Shakespeare up w/ a spoon.
