The mutha of GAB GATHERINGS
A comedy conversation

I figured this needed it's own thread. It will help me keep track of the responses better.
I mentioned at Gabessee that I am planning to organize the BIG GAB gathering for later in the year.
I am hoping for the biggest one ever. I was planning on keeping it in Atlanta. Most likely around September/October. I was thinking of getting a block of hotel rooms downtown, which is central to almost everything there is to do in the city and is close to the airport (International airport even).
However, I like all of your suggestions and will pass them on to John (he his hoping to attend). Here is what I have heard so far:
Cruise
Houseboat Rental
Vegas
Houseboat - As far as the houseboat rentals go, there is a lake not too far from me which has houseboat rentals. The boats can sleep up to 10, so we'll probably need at least 2 if not 3. It is a resort and also has a water park. There is also a bar/grille where you can pull your boat up to and hear live music. This is very do-able.
Vegas - Truthfully, this is a little too pricey for me (and might be for others) but I could take on a "second job" if I need to I guess.
Cruise - This sounds good too and if we can get enough people, we may qualify for a group discount and special package for all the alcohol you can drink included. We'll have various types of entertainment and shore excursions right there as well.
My suggestion is this: Please email me @ TraeL67@yahoo.com with two things:
Your choice of venue
Your choice of month/time of year.

Ok, if Halloween is still a favorite, San Francisco is the place to be. I will hopefully be moved all in to a new place by then and ya'll are welcome to stay here. You'll spend about $200 for airfare from the East Coast.
It would be a little cheaper to go to Chicago. I think they have a sausage festival around October...

I'm really partial in keeping it in Atlanta. There are a lot of things to do, and if we get enough people who attend, we can reserve a block of hotel rooms down town. So much to do, we'd never get bored. Imagine if you will, all holding hands as we cross the street like a bunch of over grown tard kindergartners.
Another possibility is for us to have a SIMULEVENT. Where we all gather the same weekend in differnt locations all communicating via webcast.
Thoughts?

If we go to Atlanta, can we make it mandatory to walk around town tied together at the waist with a rope?
That would be so tard.

I favor a cruise, as I've mentioned about six or seven times already. Atlanta is a possibility, but I've found that when you factor in the price of food and whatnot, a cruise is cheaper than a land vacation.
That, and when you Frosters decide you hate me you won't be able to run away and hide.

If you do come, I'm gonna tell Seamus you're his aunt.

Mommy's on the phone. They're going to fly up to Boston in September (the 10th!) and then driving along over the Acadian National Park to see about 30 different lighthouses along the coast of Maine, primarily.
I could write an email, but how else would I rub the noses of Gabbers in this?

If we have the houseboat thing, the culmination would have to be the big PIRATE PARTY! Rape and pillage, arrrrrr. And rum drinks.
Tell Trix it's the butt-pirate party just to keep him happy.

Wait, it was the year before because last year they were somewhere in South America.

Good technique to have the anchor down and secure before you start the drinking.
Or if you sail with the people I do, you'd already have had 4 stienlargers during the start of the race, and one or two between each bouy.
A serious yacht race is a good way to down 7 or eight beers on a boat.

Atlanta sounds coo. But last time I was in Buckhead my buddy and I got kicked out of the Buckhead Salon becase he "acidently" wandered into the women's pisser. After getting hucked to the street, we got talked into go to going to "Backstreet" where the con man told us we would find loads of babes. SInce buckhead was closed down, we piled into a cab and off we went. When we got there we noticed there were lots of dudes, some dancing with theier shirts off and grinding on each other. Frost me running, I thought, this is not straight. We ran like rabbits in an Oregon wildfire to hail a cab. The first thing I said when we got in the cab was "hey buddy, were not gay". "Sure" the driver siad, "I get that all the time". He took us to a Crystal burger before we went home, which helped purge all of the alcohol out of our systems. So, uhh, lets not go to Backstreet...

Vegas is the cheapest place to gather people from around the glizzobe. There are always deals on flights and hotels. Plus there's something for everyone, even the D&D crowd who will be borrowing plane fare from mom.
I love Atlanta but there ain't Shakespeare to do there but eat BBQ and buy guns. The nightlife is for Shakespeare.
Boston is the cradle of GAB civilization, and an event there is the likeliest to get John to attend. The nightlife is better than Atlanta, not as good as Vegas or San Fran. If it were planned enough ahead of time, I could get my band a gig during the event so you could all throw your diet pepsis at me, ya fatasses.
The BBQ and pizza up hyah suck royally, but you won't find better seafood. Especially the bearded clam in butterface sauce.

Chix. You can find all you need, including map and rates on the website. It's closer to Daggy and the NZers than it is to us, so, of course our chartered jet would be quite costly. Also the nightly rates are steep, and have only gotten worse as the value of the dollar has declined. Some republican Bush turned out to be..

I've been to a couple and I've even organized a couple. Some thoughts:
It needs to be in a place that already has a bunch of Gabbers. You need a good base of people to attract more people from out of town.
Atlanta already has a base of people. Vegas? Not so much.
Vegas would kick ass, sure, but how many people would actually commit to it early enough? I think most people from out of town will have the attitude that they'll go only if there are enough people already going. In that situation it's hard to get the snowball rolling in the first place.
A cruise would be fun but it's also a fact of life that some people may not be enjoying themselves and they'd want to leave early for one reason or another. You can't just leave a cruise. People need to have the option to come and go as they please.
Along those same lines, you can't always force a group to stay together for a whole weekend. Subgroups may want to split off and do their own thing the following day. Like, everyone might want to ditch Spicey because of his body oder.
You need to get about ten committed people to pick a date and then announce the date to everyone else. Don't wait for everyone to come to a consensus. If you build it, they will come.
Your mileage may vary, of course. These are just a few thoughts.

There are several of us in the Houston and east Texas area. Maybe we could all chip to rent a van to go to Atlanta. We could pick up other GABbers along the way.

Since I may be in the New England area, and since butters, Al and John all live in the greater Boston area, along with about 50 million other GABbers who I can't seem to recall right now, the obvious and logical choice (to me at least) seems to be Tucson.

Terrorist.
After my last adventure to Toronto, I haven't been able to think of female Canadian border guards in the same way. Ask my buddy about how well burly canadian guard thumb fits up the average young American male's ass. Fun times, fun times.

But I'll have a list of demands that will make Van Halen's tour rider look like nothing. Not only will you have to remove the brown M&Ms, but you'll have to peel the green ones.

I could get a killer suite at the NyNy hotel/casino if you do it in Vegas... kind of like a 'gab-central' room...
Of course none of you know me so I would open the door like.."Gab?" "What the hell?" "Jeff who?" and you all would be like "Ya, um, eh, gab... we all go to this website, and um, talk or ah, gab if you will, about nothing and everything..."
That would be cool. Wicked cool.

Don't go to Six Flags with a bunch of no rollercoaster riding pussies.
I made it VERY clear before I even got to Atlanta that I would not be on any rollar coasters. The plan was for me and Meg to go and make out in the hounted house but Spicy and Worm runined that. Besides, you all would have had to wait 3 mother-FrostING HOURS to ride the superman and had we waited then we would have missed the Hood rats on the bus.
You should thank me.

Spicey's on to something here. We should have it in ATL, hit the CNN headquarters for the tour, and try to cajole them into putting us on the news. If Jeff's going to be there we'd have more of a chance, and it would really make for great publicity for the site! And it would be even better if we all were wearing one of these at the time!
