Anniversary Party: Show of Hands
A comedy conversation

If the party were to be held on July 16 (with the informal event being held on July 15) and it were announced before this weekend, who would be attending?
Please answer this question by stating--in bold--"Attending" or "Not Attending" or "Unsure" in the first line of your response.
Then answer the following question: Are you a raging alcoholic who places the availability of alcohol above all other things, including the chance of spending some intimate quality time with GABbers whom you may have never met and are likely to never see again in your lifetime?
This information is important if we are going to announce a date by the weekend.
Please feel free to email or IM me if you have any questions.

Shakespeare, I was never good with quizes.
And furthermore, I am a raging alcoholic- but I am fully capable of packing a flask if the location does not provide hooch.
Will we be strip-searched at the door?

I'll most likely remain 95% sober and I won't be staying very late. I have a 10 hour car ride early the next morning.
I will, however, be serving up the nutbutter* to all the fine ladies.
*and by "serving up the nutbutter" I mean sharing my calamari.
That is not a euphemism

Especially if I have a ride from New York to Boston, and possibly back again. Otherwise I'll be taking the train.
I have been known to enjoy a few drinks now and again, but it is not necessary for me to have a good time.

There will be hooch. Don't you fret.
side note: In our house "hooch" means "dookie." There's some ad in Georgia that says "Shoot the Hooch!" It always sounded to me like some euphamism for pinching a loaf, so whenever I got a turtle poking his little brown head out, I say "I gotta shoot the hooch."

Maybe we could have drink tickets so ZUG doesn't have to provide all the alcohol. It would be like Mardi Gras but with tickets instead of beads. Of course, it'd be hard to choose whether to use them to drink or see boobs but it sure seems like a win-win situation.

I plan on looking for someone to carpool/share a room with. (While I realize I have never met ANY of you, I would prefer to room with someone I have at least seen post here before.) I'll room with men or women, and will share a bed with either if need be, BUT YOU AIN'T GETTIN ANY SO DON'T TRY.
Sorry - anybody still left? Janey - I'm serious - if you drive, according to Mapquest (not that I trust them) you should go right through Columbus - I'd love to jump on board then.

Unsure Deeply unsure.
Transportation is the problem. I don't fly now for various reasons, and money is only one of them.
If someone is driving through northeastern Ohio, I would be very willing to contribute towards gasoline money. Contribute.
I don't drink, and haven't in 23 years. I have no objection, however, to others around me making Frost-ing jackasses of themselves in varying levels of intoxication.
Just try to make it to the porcelain God in time, okay?
Incidentally, this is the weekend after my birthday.

Whistler have you been to Williamsburg? I used to work for Colonial Williamsburg and always heard the fife and drum corps practicing in the parking lot. It was so damn cool.

Oh and Al, add you and John to your list just to get an accurate count.

Virn - can you afford to share a room? If we get enough people to split one, it shouldn't be too bad. Mr. Sir is in Cincy - he talked about carpooling at one point as well. Hell - I don't even care about a bed - I'll crash on the floor. I just want a roof over me, and someplace to store all my expensive vibrators while I'm at the party.
I'd also be happy to have Roofie over me...

Virn - as far as the driving, my main concern is having someone in the car - I get sleepy driving by myself. I need people to talk to. If we get a carload of GABbers, I'm sure to stay awake - who the hell could SLEEP through all that? I'm willing to pitch in more for the gas if people are willing to go with me. Save you the gas money so you can crash with us.

Sure! I would love to share a room with Dianada, Tabby, Filly, Trae, Ditdah, Trixxie Roofie, Panda...

CG
Dianada
Filly
Frogpop
Polo Chukker
Mr. Sir
Spicey
Tabby
And 8 of you are unsure and haven't indicated your lodging needs should you be able to make it:
Aimless (if airfare manifests, I know)
AussieSarah
BIG
Chi Chi
HH
HBE
Lizzie
TTJ
Some of you live near, but I don't know if it's near enough. Point being, let me know if you want to room with people otherwise I'm counting you as taking care of yourselves.

Lodging: if I come, I'll probably stay at a hotel. I can take care of myself for reservations, but I will appreciate a short list of hotels where other GABbers will be staying, just so that I don't find myself on the other side of town as everybody else.

I may have accidentally injected some actual serious content in my post and I'd better clarify. I don't drink Diet drinks but I used to drink regular sodas once in a while. When I went on a diet and cut out sugar I thought I'd try a Diet Coke. I had one and got a rash on my back within 2 days. It may not be related at all and I certainly don't intend to join a support group.
I currently drink about 70-80 ounces of water a day and a decaf coffee in the morning.
The end.

Hmm, let's take all the best features of coffee (1. caffeine 2. ummm, still working on it) and remove them, leaving only the worst features (1. tastes like Shakespeare 2. made from beans that smell like Shakespeare 3. may actually contain Juan Valdez Shakespeare 4. too damn hot 5. rots your brain) and then drink it. Ok, I started that post earlier today.
A few things:
1) I've talked with Spicey previously and if he's attending, the Mrs. and I would be sharing a room with him (supposedly) and we would be willing to take a fourth, and they can fight with Spicey over who get's the bed/floor/chair/better spooning position.
2) I find it hilarious that Al put in his little spreadsheet thingy that TTJ doesn't drink.
3) We'd be leaving the Sharkpup with family this time.
4) Again, we're still willing to start a road trip here and pick up as many as we can along the way in a rented van for a share of the expenses.
But that all depends on the next couple weeks for us personally, the true FINAL anouncement of the timetable, and whether or not Spicey can get someone to spoon with him, without having to pay for it.

Not attending
Here are just a few reasons:
1)No one wants me there
2)I don't want me there
3)Living in alaska makes it hard to get there
4)Have a a few concerts that week
5)See 1
6)I have no money

1) I've talked with Spicey previously and if he's attending, the Mrs. and I would be sharing a room with him (supposedly) and we would be willing to take a fourth, and they can fight with Spicey over who get's the bed/floor/chair/better spooning position.
I don't recall that conversation. You just want to get me drunk and take advantage of me, you goon!

There's no way I'm going to read a 204 post thread
. . . unless I'm at work.
Having said that, I am at work and I still didn't read it all, so I have no idea if we're still on topic or if the date has been announced officially or even if Roofie announced that she's becoming a nun.
A delicious nun.
But, back to the (possible) topic of this thread: I don't think I will be going. But I am still considering it. I will make up my mind at the last possible moment.

Heh, I've pretty much read this thread its whole life, But decided the 200+ mark was a good time to state the obvious.
If BobJohnson wants to have a beer on that day, thats cool with me. We can talk about how we're both way cooler than all of you.

Lizzie, that might not be necessary. Once the date is announced we'll pick a hotel and those that want to stay there will be told what kind of prices we're looking at. If your limit is zero we'll see if any groups will let you sleep on their floor. At least you'd get to stretch out more than in your car and you might even get to shower! We'd all win then!

Not attending. I bought a house on Monday, so now I am very broke. I would still eat Ramen for a month so I could afford to go, but the 16th won't work. I host Fresh Air Kids and coordinate the entire event for my city, and the children will be here through the 19th.
If the party date changes at all, I could come otherwise. But I would need to know soon, so I could stock up on teh instant noodle.

Having been involved with similar 'reunions' as both a participant and planner I know the kind of effort it takes. Gawd bless the organizers.
The event I hosted for people coming from around the country was a Boston/Wellesley event. The two most popular things were the Duck tour with people trying to find each other and just hanging out in Wellesley around the pool.
I'm no longer a Bostonian by geography (to say the least) and as upsetting as this may be to many of you, I will not be in Boston in July.
Have fun without me.
