I'm going to need the help of the local GABbers on this one.
Boston is an expensive place to live and visit, but if lodging is planned right, everyone should be able to save some cash.
Research is being done on group rates and such, but I'm posting this here to solicit ideas from the genital pubic.
Here are my preliminary suggestions:
There are fancy hotels for those of you whose dot.com options did not turn to dust. The Parker House, the Copley Plaza, the Sheraton, Radisson, Weston Marriott, and Hilton are all located in town and close to the T.
There are two Holiday Inns (one downtown and one in Brookline) that are both T accessible.
There are a bunch of places like Motel 6, but I don't know of any offhand that are T accessible. If you have a car, that's good, but if there's a game in town, stay the Frost away. Park near an outlying T stop and take the damn subway.
It has been suggested more than once that some local colleges may offer dorm rooms at cheap rates. Can someone who's not me look into this? Boston University, Emerson, Tufts, MIT, Harvard--are all accessible.

Tough one.
There's the Newton Marriot, which is right over by Riverside T station. Or is that not the Marriot? I forget now.
Being on the T is mandatory. I would strongly recommend NOT renting a car from the airport. Parking will cost you $30 - $40 per day in the city and you DO NOT want to drive here. Also, we do not want you to drive here.
Is there a youth hostel in town? I live here, so I haven't needed to rent a room since I was living at my mom's house and needed a place to bang my girlfriend. And that was in the 'burbs.
Plan on paying a lot for a room.

At Harvard?
Tad: "Oh, bother. Look at that drunken riff-raff on our expensive Persian rug. Dear me, I thought we had given the help the weekend off. "
Thurston: "That drunken lout shall receive a sound thrashing as soon as I find a coaster for my gin and tonic."
Buffy: "Oh, Thurston, you are quite the hero. Do mind your sweater, it is an Izod"
Mr. Sir: "Hey, you fart-knockers shut the hell up, or bring me another drink. "
Tad: "You, sir, are fretfully disturbing. Thurston and I are on Harvard's crew, and know a thing or two about skirmishes with ruffians of your ilk."
Miffy (enters room carrying tray of drinks): "Dear me, there is quite a ruckus. We must maintain a hushed tone, or the constabulary shall disband our merriment."
Mr. Sir (grabs drink off of Miffy's tray, shoots it down, pinches her ass, grabs two more drinks and heads towards the door): "You are a bunch of blue-blooded whiney bitches. I'm going over to MIT to kick it with the nerds."

I have a discount on Club Quarters' Boston Hotel, which is right downtown, for a discounted rate. Supposedly as low as $46 a night. I'll look into it more, and get back to you guys. Not sure if I can get more than 1 or two rooms at that rate, but if they're doubles, then you could put two of the same sex in each room. Unless it's trixxie or Declan. Or people that want to have sex with a gabber.

"Hello, and welcome to Boston's finest and most luxurious youth hostel. We feature one medium sized room containing 70 beds which can sleep up to 375 bodies a night. There is no bathroom. Nor is there one nearby. If you do not wish to have your valuables stolen I suggest destroying them or discarding them right now. You can also try hiding your valuables. In your anus. This will deter some but of course not all thieves. Once you are inside, the doors are chained and locked from the outside. They will not be opened again until morning, no matter what. Should a fire occur due to our faulty wiring or, uh, the fireworks factory upstairs you will be incinerated along with the valuables that you have hidden in your anus. Tips are greatly appreciated."

And if someone IS in a bind money-wise, I'll let someone crash.

While doing a little research, I came across this.
Apparently the Fenway Summer Hostel is a Boston University dorm during the year. They have dorm rooms and private rooms (1-3 persons). The rates shown on the website look pretty good to me, and they also have group rates that we can inquire about.
The address is 575 Commonwealth Ave, on the BU campus, and it's near a T line. I would like to know what the Boston GABbers think of this location.
Note: It's pretty close to Fenway Park, and the Red Sox will be in town that week-end, so it might full of baseball fans.

The easiest and cheapest way to stay for free would be to roll through South Boston in an IROC listening to J.Geils. Pull up to the first house that has less than three mullet-headed kids tearing up the yard and tell the people inside you're their cousin Patty from Sharon. Chances are, they'll be unable to recall the names of all of their 1.2 million cousins and invite you in for the Sox game and some gay bashing.

For the record, Kake has got a sweet deal on a hotel that is in a perfect location. The rates are slightly different in the summer season.
1 person: $66
2 people: $79
2 people in a suite with a sofa bed (secret 3rd person): $119
There cannot be 4 people, so I will also provide options for at least one more place to stay.
I'm watching this thread and my emails for any lodging requests and comments. Once the date is announced, we'll get confirmation from people and start booking rooms.

When we went to Vegas we exited the Mirage and walked for hours to the downtown area to see the Fremont Experience. Later we were told we were insane to walk all that way because it's "sooo dangerous" even though it was mainly a business district and no one approached us to sell any types of wares, like they would here.
So I guess what I'm saying is, put the bar visit near the hotel and our drunk asses can walk it.
NO, I DON'T CARE HOW BIG YOUR CITY IS! I BLINDLY INSIST CAN HANDLE IT!!

What are last minute Gabbers going to do? There seems to be a few of us at least that wont know our status until closer to the middle of June so are we sure that those of us that can't plan ahead will have someplace to stay?
I'll happily pimp my boyfriend out to lonley female gabbers if it helps me get a place to stay.

Aimless, we will not be able to block a group of rooms for those people such as yourself but I will do everything in my power to provide options at the same hotel (possibly higher prices) or other hotels.

What if there isn't any power?
What if you consume an entire ham?
And, yes, it is true that Al and I have been in negotiations to get my paranoid Suth'en arse up North so that I may consume some of your...well...whatever food it is you people consume and hear the word "wicked" repeated over and over all weekend.
Only problem is that I will have a bonafide panic attack if forced to fly without my mate and that's an extra plane ticket. All the money in the Gab account could barely cover both our seats. Then there's lodging and if we somehow miraculously cover the plane tickets we won't have anything leftover for a room or trivial, unimportant things like...food.
I really would love to be a part of the anniversary party thrown by some people I have grown to dearly love* over the years but finances are not looking good enough to cover such a journey. I'm still working on it.
*and by "love" I mean "become disgusted by"

BIG, some have wireless, some have high-speed, some have telephone lines. That specific info will be provided.
In other news, I'd like to thank Ditdah for offering to be our porn for the weekend.

Oh and one of my friends from the Meniketti forum lives in the Boston area. I'm hoping I can talk him into meeting up with me while I'm there.
I'll need one room, which I will gladly share with Jane, even though she thinks I'm a butt rock fag.

Today is Be Harsh day. Actually this thread is mostly so people can say if they do or do not need lodging. Then people can either make plans together or let me mix and match.
But it's also for answering questions, even if Kake and I are a little snarky while answering. I have PMS, no idea what his excuse is.

Oh, well. I suppose it could be worse. Much, much worse.
