I like to read the Opinion page in the paper so that I can laugh at all the people whose opinions are wrong.
Normally it's just wannabe hippies trying to save some part of the environment, some coffee-drinking Seattle-ite preaching about their Diesel Volkswagen that they drive wearing a Frost-ing plaid scarf all year round, or Republicans STILL BITCHING ABOUT THE GOVERNOR'S ELECTION.
But today something new happened.
I'm sure most of you have read the comic strip Beetle Bailey before.
It's a mediocre comic that's past it's prime, that reuses old jokes, but can still be kinda funny sometimes, mainly to old people. You know, most of today's comic strips in the papers that are to scared to offend anyone.
One of the Letters to the Editor in the PI today follows:
"It's time for "Beetle Bailey" to be discharged from the pages of the Seattle PI. The May 29 strip, in which Sarge beats up Beetle for the zillionth time, was a particular affront to your readers on Memorial Day."
What. The. Hell. Is. Wrong. With. People.
(On a side note about comics, I read "Mallard Filmore" today, and once again, it failed to tell a joke.)

For those of you who don't have that in your papers, it's two little black brothers who are politically savvy.

The Boondocks is quite possibly the best strip out there right now, besides Doonesbury.
At least ever since Non Sequitur got preachy.

Of the retired strips, my favorites are Calvin & Hobbes, The Far Side, and Bloom County (though it's been sorta resurrected as "Opus").
Dilbert, Zits, and Foxtrot are pretty good. Non Sequitur is my current favorite.
All of this will change once I create my own comic strip though: "The Hilarious Adventures of Chippy the Retarded Hippopotamus." Oh what hilarious misadventures he'll have! Like the time he misreads a hippopotamus personal ad and goes on a blind date with Zippo, the cigarette lighter. The results will be explosive!

I gave up reading the comics in my local newspapers when they decided to cut back their selection to the point the daily highlight was Garfield, now I just subscribe to comics.com
Monty, Dilbert, Sheldon, Over The Hedge and Get Fuzzy all delivered to my virtual door, and it saves me the risk of buying the Herald Sun and becoming stupider.

When my friends and I play World of Warcraft, we talk over Skype. Last night, to test my podcasting software, I recorded seven minutes of conversation between myself, Angela, Jason and Gary.
You can download this "pod-test" from my Filecloud page. By the way, Filecloud is a great way to cheaply make your own podcasts (or any files for that matter) available for download to the world. Check it out at filecloud.com.
WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE. We're cursing on this recording.
God, SR, why the Frost do you post a website that features people recording themselves play Warcraft? I hear enough inane conversation at work without downloading it too.
And, ooh, they're using EXPLICIT LANGUAGE! What a bunch of Frost-ing rebellious numbnut techno-nerds you hang out with, next thing they'll be posting recordings of themselves discovering internet pornography, but they better show:
WARNING: WE HAVE TITS ON DISPLAY! We've never seen these in real life.

The only paper I read any more is the Boston Metro. It's a free paper and it only has one comic. I don't know what it's called, but it's about a slacker guy and his slacker friends. Everyone is self conscious. It never makes me laugh, but it never angers me with outright suckitude either. So it's just kind of there, like carrots or tube socks.
In today's metro (there is no online version, alas), there was an article about the fall of Fred Durst. Now that would be a great comic. Make it for me, please.
