Yeah!

Bjork!

Kanye West!

U2!

Sting!

Dave Matthews Band!

A-ha!

Madonna!

Are you Frost-ing kidding me?!

This is proof that the industrialized western world wants Africa to starve to death.

Someone ask Bob Geldof if it's necessary for us to put aside good taste in order to save the world.

I don't understand how huge non-profit concerts around the world are going to influence leaders either. But I guess if all the people living in extreme poverty with government more openly corrupt than our own won't change their minds, maybe an extreme show of wealth, opulence and materialistic concerns will.

from here

For instance, noted gentleman and scholar Noel Gallagher was up to his old tricks in discussing the upcoming Live 8 shows. He sung to the media, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but they hoping that one of these guys from the G8 is on a quick 15-minute break at Gleneagles and sees Annie Lennox singing 'Sweet Dreams' and thinks, 'Frost me, she might have a point there, you know'." And what's a Gallagher quote without mentioning another overblown British band not completely dissimilar to our Manchester heroes, but who of course, "are Shakespearee": "Keane doing 'Somewhere Only We Know' and some japanese businessman going, 'Aw, look at him...we should really Frost-ing drop that debt, you know'. It's not going to happen, is it?" Nope, probably not Noel, you know.

...

Liam then told Canadian Chart Magazine that were they not booked, they'd love to play Live 8. "I'd love to. Y'know why I'd love to do that gig?" he said. "First of all, it's Frost-ing awareness and all that stuff. I just love to go on and do four Frost-ing songs and really Frost-ing rip it up. Come in and Frost-ing bang it with Frost-ing four of your classics. And then walk off, and Frost-ing flick Robbie Williams in the eye and say: 'Follow that you dick!'"

I wonder if $5 a ticket would have helped any starving Africans?

If they really want to do something about starvation in Africa I suggest they set up a trap in the lingerie section at Wal*Mart. An extended family of thirty six could feed for a year off of just one of those carcasses

So as I said yesterday Brody, I am really happy you got to see the show, even if it was only on big screens.

The first thing I did this morning was buy Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Paul McCartney and U2) for 99 cents from iTunes.

So I've made my charitable contribution for this year.

I learned a lot from watching the Live8 coverage yestiddy.

Mostly that I've been right for the last 20 years--getting rid of Roger Waters was the best thing Pink Floyd ever did.

Pink without Roger is not really Pink.

Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett just isn't Pink Floyd.

If they really want to feed them in a hurry, they should invite Gallagher to come along with his trusty sledgehammer. Make sure it's a one way ticket.

For some reason they should include the "Our Site Sucks" commercial from the Stewper Bowl Ads, because THAT SITE SUCKS!

Most rural African hospitals still believe in calling most deaths by the related disease instead of AIDS. It is therefore impossible to tell exactly how many are infected.

Also, most African children can be fed on less than a dollar a week through charity organisations, etc... so yes... five dollar ticket prices should help.

The only country that needs help and won't get it is Zimbabwe for obvious reasons but I'm certain the rest of Africa thanks dear old, grey old Bobby for his efforts.

Even though Madonna sucked arse.

Another thought... old Mariah Carey singing at the end surrounded by healthy little black kids. Was anyone else reminded of her "Ethiopia speech"?

You know, the one were she was quoted as saying: "I feel bad when I see little kids from Ethiopia... I mean, I'd like to be skinny like that but not with all those flies."

Then why don't they get a job, lazy bastards. Anything is bound to pay better than chasing lions and eating bugs.

Hmmm let's see... one dollar = +- 6 SAR = +- 26 000 000 Ethiopian whatevers... Could you earn 26 000 000 dollars a week on a diet of maize and water (when you can get it)...

Shut up.

I'm certain forgiving a continent's debt will clear up all their problems. Maybe they can afford new machetes and Kalishnikovs for their militias for some good old fashioned debt-free genocides.
