Nearly half a million Katrina refugees in my city and people at work are still going "I'm gonna ride it out, no biggie."
I felt mildly sorry for the folks in NO who did that. The people here who are saying it should take a cruise ship into the Gulf right now.

Somehow I picture DR getting his Barbies out and pretending that they are the weather Gods in front of the TV screen.
"You call that a tropical storm bitch?!"
"No Barbie! No! The Golf Coast can't take anymore!"
"Mwuahahahahah!!!"

I predict that there will be further "weather abuse" of roving reporters.
Does anyone care about the reporters? Who will stand up for them?

Why I might be so miffed that I'll be tempted to complain about my government being responsible for all the global warming increasing the number of hurricanes. Ooooh, you better hold me back!

I heard on the radio this morning that a lot of people are heading to Austin. Coupled with the fact that the Austin City Limits Music Festival is this weekend, I believe that the poo will run rampant in your sewers. Somebody find Mr. Hankey and make sure he's okay.

Houston. What the Frost? I told mom I hope she can swim up to Denton to visit me.
I was actually pretty disappointed, this weekend I was going to go home for a visit and get my brother really stoned.

This leads me to believe that back in the day, when you were young and not grumpy, You were sold bags of herbs more often than contraband. This does not happen in present day, People get stabbed over less.

Yes, back in my day, there was no crime. Nor was there any violence or hatred. Drug deals were handled according the Queen's best ettiquette and though you would occasionally purchase a bag of oregano when you thought you were paying your hard-earned cash for the finest Afghani Sensemilla, you brushed off your misfortune with a hearty guffaw and a pat on the back to your dealer for a ruse well-played.

Everyone at work today was hysterical, talking about the hurricane, and about who was/wasn't evacuating. We got the whole rest of the week off. I'm still not sure what Spicey and I are doing. I have his car right now though, so I know he hasn't left me here by myself.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I was promised a carrot cake, anal sex, and dinner at a BBQ restaurant. If this hurricane messes up those plans, I will be seriously pissed off.

Category 5 storms have winds of 156 mph or stronger. Such storms can blow down trees and shrubs, completely destroy mobile homes and cause major damage to lower floors of buildings near the coast.
(from Bloomberg.com)
Completely destroy mobile homes? I think a well placed rumour or an errant ciggy butt would do that.
And if you destroy a lower floor of a house, would it not collapse?
Deep thoughts, by DR.
