I've got an idea! What if you made a laptop computer out of a 3-ring binder and a hand-written keyboard?

Huh? Huh? You think anyone would fall for that?

Hideyowhateveryournameis, here's a link to the article that Dogs was refering to. It may give you some ideas, or at very least entertain you.

Oh yeah, and STFU n00b.

Canadian currency tends to get a reaction from most sellers.

I probably shouldn't be participating in this conversation, but what's the scam? He wants to purchase an item and sends you fraudulent dough, or nothing at all?

The Powerbook Prank was pretty sweet. Depending what you're selling, you may want to send him a variant of that.

Instead of an iPod, send him a bar of soap with some song names written on it in crayon. Instead of a laptop, send him a toilet seat. That sort of thing.

I've been scammed twice on ebay. My Zug subscription cost me $1000 and harassment surcharges $50 rebate has yet to arrive.

When the X-Box came out a few years ago, a friend sold his X box, meaning the box his system came in on the internet for $400+. His ad said X box, so it was legit.

That X-box scam made the news. I can't remember what the outcome was.

I remember now. PayPal lowered the boom on the seller. They now include that scenario in the buyer protection policy:

2. The item delivered by the seller is 'significantly not-as-described' in the item listing. An item is 'significantly not-as-described' if the seller clearly misrepresented the details of the item in a way that affects its value or usability. Please note that this does not include cases where you are merely disappointed with the item or where the item did not meet your expectations. Reasons that an item may be considered 'significantly not-as-described' include, but are not limited to, the following:

The item is a completely different item than that which was presented by the seller in the listing, e.g. an audio book instead of a printed book, a desktop computer instead of a laptop, a picture of an item instead of the actual item; or an empty box;
