Also.. GAB is not real life. GAB is about being funny and having a good time. So, regardless of the subject matter, people will pick on you for a laugh. Not you, particularly.. just anyone. And, for the most part, they're not doing it because they really hate someone. This is the internet.. people have "online personas". The biggest Emerson on this site may very well be one of the nicest people in the world, outside of GAB.



Example: think of the most popular, well-liked GABber. Now say that this GABber starts a thread tomorrow, in all seriousness, stating that their mother/father/child/etc is dead. True story, no bullShakespeare-ing, a close family member actually died.



I guarantee that within the first 10 posts (if it even takes that long), there will be a "Frost-ing the dead person" comment made by someone.

It's normal. It's expected. It's GAB. And it's not going to change. And chances are, it'll be followed up by a nice, sincere post.. or email, whatever. But the laughs come first.



And now to the point of all this. If your "easily bruised, shattered feelings and low self-esteem" thing you've got going on happens to be your "schtick" here, then by all means.. keep it up.. you do it perfectly.



But if that's the way you really are, and these things really bother you, then you seriously need to take a step back and consider whether or not this is a place you want to be a part of.



Don't misinterpret.. this is in no way a slam against you, or another attempt to get laughs at your expense.



Look at the big picture of what this place is about. It's been this way for years, and it's going to stay this way. Make the call.. do you belong here or not?

Everyone who has made a serious post in this thread should take more responsibility for bringing GAB down than Jilly.



Serious posts do even more to erode community than hateful posts that strive for humor. When we stop attempting to be funny, it brings a semblance of reality to this electronic village, which only serves to underscore the hate behind all the negative posts.



If you are going to insult someone, and if your self-esteem is so damaged that the need to do so is so strong that you can't resist, at the very least, attempt to infuse your post with levity.
