Attention pet owners read the following from a dog.
"I am a 10 year old Bassett Hound and I have been in a lot of pain in my neck area. I would even wake up during the night and yowl from the pain. My owner called Jim Burda and described the way I was moping around and walking with my head down. Over the phone he was able to work on me. He found the area in my vertebrae that was out of place and was able to manipulate it into place. I am feeling much better and I hold my head up high again. There hasn't been a reason to yelp now for several weeks! Thank you." DaisyMae

Don't view at it as the state prohibiting you from practicing, just look at it as if you went back in time before you had a license.

Chiropractors are ALL quacks. Chiropractory is quackery. Chiropractors ARE NOT doctors, although for the most part they love to be called "Doctor". Snake oil, copper bracelets or magnet wraps, anyone?
If you want to spend good money on alternative medicine, go to an acupuncturist. Or just get Al to stick chopsticks under your fingernails.

Chiropractors ARE doctors. They earn doctoreds just like any other specialist. Are you going to tell me that dentists aren't doctors? They are awarded a licence and are authorized to practice their particular form of healthcare. In truth, chiropractors must attend more hours of medical training than your average general practice MD. They are much more highly educated in nutrition, and you can get better dietary advice from a chiropractor than you can from your family doctor.
I'm not going to say that they're a pure group. There are quite a few quacks, and I believe that because their practices are widely misunderstood, then the "bad apples" are more inclined to take advantage of the uneducated masses.
What? MD's aren't quacks? The statistics of Medical Doctors who perscribe antibiotics for people with obvious viral illnesses are off the charts. It is widely known that antibiotics do not kill viruses, and they pass out antibiotics like candy, yet this behavior is not just ignored, but pracitcally condoned because most people would rather pop a pill than actually understand their body.
I'm going to take my soap box with me, so that nobody trips over it.

I used to get acupuncture therapy. I thought it was alright. I liked it at first. And then I found out that my acupunturist (is that what they are called?) had been sued for sexual harrassment and malpractice and had left town mysteriously. It came out that this had happened in several other places, and he just kept jumping towns and changing identities. It seems he was also just generally insane overall. I can't really think of acupunture in the same way anymore.

Chiropractors certainly the hell are not doctors. They don't go to medical school/holsitic medicine postsecondary school. Even a dentist could properly perform CPR and a trachetomy (chiropractors, for the most part, can't) in the event his "treatment" went wrong somehow. They're overpaid massage threapists. You know what happens if a chiropractor screws up, or if one of their patients goes into cardiac arrest? (S)He calls 991, because (s)he isn't a Frost-ing doctor and can't deal with it.

It will forever amuse me that people will defend or repute the benefits of chiropractic medicine as vehemently as they would their religion, political beliefs, lifestyle choice, or favorite beer.
Having worked "in the business" and also having been helped many times with severe pain directly related to my back, as well as referred pain, I will always side with the "quacks."
It's sorta like lesbianism. Don't knock it till you try it.

There are two SEPARATE questions.
1)
Q: Are Chiropractors medical doctors?
A: No. Though they may very well be "doctors" in the sense of "having a doctorate", they are not as a rule M.D.'s. I'm sure there are exceptions, but that's not germane to the point.
2)
Q: Do chiropractors offer a valid and helpful medical service?
A: I have absolutely no idea.
I just hate watching poorly constructed debates, is all.

Just for fun, I'm going to try having an actual opinion for once.
I equate chiropractors with psychiatrists. No doubt, they do good and beneficial work for some people, but for others who might not necessarily need the given service, just the act of going creates a need to return the next week.
Do I really have to if I'm making any sense here, or do you guys just give up the second you see the steak?

Look, you wouldn't let me work on your CAR with the same set of "principles" that are behind chiropractice. Channels of energy flowing through your body, that are realigned when I crack your neck? What are you some kind of friggen retard?
When you bring your car into the garage, some guy doesn't wave his hands over the hood and tell you he's fixed the transmission. You would spit in his face, and laugh him out of his job, leaving his children penniless and probably slightly more beaten thanks to Dad being at home unemployed and angry. But enough about my childhood.
Listen to me and start thinking for yourselves.

I agree with SHP. They sure as hell can fix the pain, numbness, and suffering experienced when a sciatic nerve goes bad.
They also do wonders for headaches, random pains in the shoulder area brought on by holding the telephone with your shoulder.

It is complete BS. Jamming your bones and muscles around has the effect of making the pain go away temporily, but -- let me guess - the pain reappears in a few days. You have to keep going back again and again and again. That's not making you better. That's making you a better customer. All that from a guy who probably flunked out of vet school.
If you have a sciatic nerve problem, go to a real doctor to get it treated. The meds are much funner anyway.
I haven't had time to read this entirely, but this looks like a good overview.

Chiropractors don't have doctoral degrees. You can go straight from high school (even without good grades) into chiropractic school, and in four years you'll be graduated and licensed. I personally know four guys who did this, and only one of them is more than half bright.
