Update #1:



Still bleeding. Bleedthrough of second bandage occured less than ten minutes after post. Now onto last bandage in the house. There is now blood on my sheets, and it's not from a hooker or a thirteen year old girl. I have decided to wear a single sock to bed. Hopefully situation will not increase to doublesock measures. Will observe.

Tape a thick wad of gauze tightly to the hole. Direct pressure is the first treatment you try for bleeding. Then elevate the foot with pillows or something so that it's higher than your black heart. No sense in letting gravity work against you. If you're still bleeding after an hour of trying this, go to the hospital.

I have no idea what the hell happened. I was sitting down after work, and I noticed that I was bleeding. Pressure and elevation was the first thing I did, but even then it didn't seem to do much. I think it's stopped now. Well, at least it hasn't bled through the bandage and the sock yet.

The shower wouldn't have helped it clot. I remember my niece cutting her finger in the shower, and freaking out because she'd never seen so much blood. Luckily there were two of us in there with her, so I could focus on wrapping her in a towel and calming her down, while my cousin went to get bandages/her mother etc.



...That sounds so much more fun than it was. We had just come home from the beach, and the two of us over 3 had swimsuits on.

Update #2:



Woke up this morning at 7:30, to prepare for work. Checked toe. Blood had not penetrated sock, but had penetrated bandage. Went to work with dark brown socks on, and bandage. Arrived at work at 8:30.



8:30-11:00- Setup

10:00-3:25- Slow; lazy time. Inventory and extra prep.

3:30-4:00- Setup, the sequel.

4:00-10:30- Metaphorical assraping commences.



About twenty minutes into metaphorical assrape, noticed that whenever step was taken, toes kind of stuck to inside of shoe. Was not pleased. Spent next six hours standing in a pool of own blood, contained in shoe. One hour after metaphorical assraping ends, get chance to check foot. Note that last four inches of dark brown sock have changed to a deep crimson. Was not pleased. Redressed toe, after raid of kitchen first aid kit, came to terms with inevitable death.

See, the thing is that I cut myself all the time at work, and it clots just fine. Hell, even when I cut the tip off my thumb last month I stopped bleeding faster. I think it's just the location (the end of my toe), combined with working 30 some hours in the last three days and always being on my feet won't let it heal over. Or it's a toe vagina, and will stop in four more days, but I'll still use it as an excuse as to why I'm bitchy anyway.

I had this very same problem in 2003. It's caused by wearing shoes that don't fit right. The condition of your toe looks pretty bad; you may have to get a shot and have the nail clipped in half, and then get that side of it removed. It hurts like hell, but if you keep it clean, your toe won't smell like a landfill, and the toenail will grow back in six months. If it still hasn't shown any signs of improvement by then, hack the Froster off.
