The radio makes anyone sound like God. It has to be all of the expensive equipment the DJ's run their voice through. A lot of the reason they sound different on the air is because of the added proximity effet of the microphone, the tube compression, and the fact that the room they broadcast from is sonically dead. Kind of like Turkey between the ears.

That's pretty comforting to know that not all radio dj's talk like that all the time. The one from my local radio station always has his radio voice on, and it's really creepy. When I used to work drive-through, we'd hear "Hello and Good Morning! Welcome to Tim Hortons' indeed! I'll have a large double-double to start my morning off right, and could I get an apple fritter with that to take me through to the afternoon, here on BIG DOG FM!"



Okay, so he didn't say "On Big Dog FM," but he might as well have. It was like someone had turned on the radio. Glad he loves his work and all, but it was so strange.
