Our new kitten!
A comedy conversation by Jaggy - the angel on top of the tree 11,895 13
11/28/2006 09:02 PM 314 views

So, Mum and Dad always said they wouldn't replace our current cats, because they're into birds now, and cats discourage wild ones from hanging out in the backyard.

Anyway, they've had a change of heart after Griffens dying, and if all goes well, we'll be the new owners of an adorable kitten with 6 toes on each foot. These things look ridiculus as kittens, they've got huuuuge feet.

Anyway, we have to name it. I'm all for Notadog, or Dog for short. But Eileen wants a clever foot-related name. Problem is, the two best ones out family has come up with have been used on other giant-footed kitties in the extended family. These were:

Clyde - because clydesdales have huge hoofs!

Cletus - because of the inbred feeling of the giant-foot mutation.

Any ideas?

As always, my suggestions for names are simple impersonal (but for kitties , said very adorable like) Titles, e.g. Kitten, Cat, some that are already taken, Fatty Cat, Moose Cat, Weiner Dog (a cat). Yes, our collective is well aware that we are insane.

I hope Tigger doesn't go all alpha male and eat it.

Griffens was alpha male right to the end. That's why the neighbour that bought him to us when he was dying was so shocked, she'd seen him beating up her cat, and the neighbour in between us' cat, just recently. Tigger had his back though. Like, Griffens was a mafia boss, Tigger was his goon.

When Toes tries to scale the back part of the couch, (the vertical part) he digs his toenails in and the foot with toes missing just burns rubber, while the other three have to propel him up the hill.

He always ends up spun around at least 90 degrees to his right.

It's funny as hell.

Oddly enough, Ernest Hemingway, the notoriously masculine writer had affection for cats.

No, he did not eat them, he actually let them hang around, and live in the same house.

I wish some would have edited "A Movable Feast," but that is not to my point here.

Descendents of his own cats still live at his Key West home. (Now a house-museum. Or should that be Mewseum?)

The thing: most of them were polydactyl (6 clawed).

Therefore, call the kitten "Ern(ie)," "Ernestine," or "Hem."

Taking into account his extremely large feet you can now make jokes about other parts of his anatomy. His name could be "Schlong". Or better yet "Giant Frost-ing Cat Coleridge". Or last of all you could name him "Hammerhead", after the world's biggest dick.

Jaggy isn't actually here but the rest of us have gone through the thread (I read it out to mum and dad). Ok, we decided not to just name it after someone with 6 fingers. Toes, Digits and Peds are ok, but not really weird enough for our family. The short list:

Pedicat, thanks to Humphrey. It's Poecat made of toes!

Poly, the Norwegian Blue, thanks to Pumpkin. My mum really likes this one.

And my personal favourite (thanks Declan, I tweaked your idea).

Here goes...*takes a deep breath* Sandy is short for Sandra Bullock who starred in "In Love and War" which was based on "A Farewell to Arms" and the book "Hemingway In Love and War" which are respectively authored by and about Ernest Hemingway who had an uncharacteristic fondness for his cats who spawned generations and generations of freaky polydactyl mutants.

Sandy also fills the irony quota because the kitten our brother can send us is black. :D

It's what makes them better than dogs. Or if you are a dog person, it's what makes them inferior to dogs.

I'm sorry Millie, I had no idea.

I had a cat that died once too, I didn't care that much though.

She just had white spots on her face, and white paws.

She was known as a Snowshoe Siamese.

<sob> She was so cute!!!

Now she's dead.
