Attention John: A Suggestion
A comedy conversation

I keep forgetting who's male and female around here, which makes things confusing. Maybe there could be little icons with "male" and "female" symbols near the icons, like in the newer versions of Pokemon.
Umm, not that I've ever played Pokemon. Umm.

What the Frost difference does someone's gender make?
Also, if you actually pay attention to what other people write, you can probably deduce who is a man and who is a woman pretty quickly.

You make it sound like a scene from 'Wicket's Big Day Out'.
After googling 'Wicket's Big Day Out" because I have no idea what you meant, I have concluded that you are somehow talking about cricket, which makes sense because you're British and British people always talk about cricket. Or football, and occasionally rugby.

Some of the posts in this thread got me thinking about why I care about who's male and who's female. I think the biggest reason is that I subvocalize, as do many people. I hear the voice of the writer when I read. When I read editorials, I always pay attention to the editorialist's name so that I can figure out whether to hear a man or a woman.

Frankly I think the idea of labelling people by attaching a gender specific icon to their posts is extremely offensive, even for this place. I agree with Millie, you should be able to tell a persons gender by context if it's even remotely relevant. So no, I don't think we need any special way to mark peoples sexes.
Though an icon to identify the filthy jews would certainly be handy.
