Hey fellas, I need some software with which I can record sound via my microphone that isn't "Voice Recorder", because recording 60 seconds at a time will not work here. Basically I just need to talk into the microphone for about an hour, and have it record everything. Thanks!

I bought "Polderbits Sound Recorder and Editor" years ago, and it does a very good job of recording any audio, and has many filters etc... I'm sure you would rather have free, but this wasn't more than $35.00 if my memory serves me correctly. Someone, somewhere, is most likely handing it out for free too, I just wasn't into looking around for it.

If this is to record you ransom demand I recommend 'The Ransom 2000' designed to mask your voice through four different filters. It will change your voice so much even your mamma won't know who you are. A recent FBI spokesman said, f**k me we had no f**king clue who it was. if its not for that, just for abusive phone calls, try the 'what you wearing 2.1 package' Enables you to make obscene calls in fifteen different accents, with added deepbreathing redial.

I second the use of Audacity, Liz uses it to run a knitting based podcast. I was going to continue on with a sideshow based one, but I sort of fried her old computer with the previous interviews and Shakespeare on there.

Polderbits is nice. Simple no frills, encodes to wave or straight to MP3, some good filtering options for the sound quality. I used the demo for the narration of Horton Hires a Ho

Why don't you just get a two-year-old? They repeat every Frost-ing word you say.

Or the two-year-old's six-year-old sister. Of course, the six-year-old will only remember the bad things you say. And tell her mommy after, too.

I'd give a suggestion, but I, for one, have never recorded anyone or anything before to play back at a later time.
