If that's her BP, she's in some deep Shakespeare.

(Or maybe she really IS in some deep Shakespeare, in which case the smell and stress could push her BP up that high.)

But I don't think that's hers - she's been too positive lately for that. I'm guessing it's someone else's. Someone who needs to eat nothing but tofu and lettuce for the next 2 years.

Got it. I did an image search on "165/104" and it pulled up a picture of martinis.

This clearly means that Trae is drunk. I'm not sure why she's acting like this is news or somehow different from any other night of the week, though.

Sheesh, Trae, did something happen?

I mean, I know you don't exactly lead a uber-healthy lifestyle (you drink and smoke, or did the last time I saw you,) you're not overweight AT ALL, and you seem to be pretty active.

Is it like hereditary or something?

Stress. Heredity. Teenagers.

I'm quitting smoking - been thinking about it lately but now it's in my best interest. Plus, cutting out my beloved butter and other things I eat that aren't good for me.

However, I will not... repeat...will NOT give up my red wine. They'll bury me with a wine opener and bottle of nice BV Merlot.

Actually, some studies say red wine is very good for you. You don't need to cut it all out.

I wouldn't drink 10 bottles a day, but some is ok.

Trust me. I have a certification in pharmacy, and I watch "House" so that makes me a medical expert.

Holy Shakespeare, Trae, I almost went on bedrest in December due to a sky high BP. In fact, they hospitalized me a week after delivery and hooked me up to some magnesium sulfate (something I am NEVER letting anyone do to me ever again) to lower it.
Now that I'm almost 2 months post-op, though, it's FINALLY gone down. Want me to mail you some free BP lowering meds? I'm sure it's totally legal.

I think my BP was at 160/120 before I went on the meds. Now it's around 120/180 and one of the meds is a diuretic so I get to piss every 15 minutes. Bonus!!!

I'm on two meds.. Norvasc and some beta blocker to slow the ticker down and stop the irregular beats. One of my valves opens backwards and causes hiccups. I almost passed out at work and that scared me.

I go back in on Monday for another EKG and test, then they'll figure out the next move. Meh. it sucks being old.

Yeesh, Trae. That blows.

If you find yourself falling asleep at the wheel, take your beta blockers at night, that way the heaviest effects of it won't Frost up your day.

As for the BP, I'll forgo the bacon and mayonnaise shakes I was going to make on Saturday.

I was once a member of the 180/120 club. I had the flu, was on all kinds of OTC meds that didn't work and decided that I had to see the doctor in one of the worst snow storms I've ever seen in my life. Since I was driving a Cavalier at the time, I had to dig out of the drive-way first, only to get plowed back in almost as soon as I was finished. Three Frost-ing times.

So, when I finally get to the doc's office, I'm sick, on all kinds of BP elevating meds, I had just spent a couple of hours exerting myself, chain-smoked all the way to the doc's and was murderously pissed at every snowplow driver that ever walked the earth.

After the nurse checked my BP, the first thing I heard her say was, " Wow. That can't be right." I knew right there I was gettin some new medications.

At least you had that option, Jep. I was 9 months prego and banned from taking any traditional BP-lowering meds so as to protect the baby. Instead the hospital chose to completely freak out and inject my bloodstream with drugs that made me INSTANTLY feel like I had the flu and look so horrible that my mom walked into the room then walked straight out, called my husband and said, "Hurry to the hospital. She's dying."
I'm Frost-ing serious about this story. No, I guess it's not funny. At least I got some morphine out of the deal!

Liler,

Before I had learned to adequately protect my face (before the age of ten or so, when you protect your nuts at all costs), I had to defend myself against a lot of insecure racist white Jersey boys and I got my nose broken at least twice but never did anything about it. When I finally saw a doctor at age 13 because it was getting hard to breathe through both nostrils, he put a hand on either side of my nose and just said, "Whoah!"

As much as we know it means trouble (in my case, having many facial bones re-broken and set) when a doctor lets loose with a less-than-professional interjection, we can't help but also feel a twinge of pride.
