[randombabbling]Earlier I was changing my myspace page to an autumn theme and thinking about the leaves changing color and I decided to put David Bowie's song Changes on the page. Then I realized it could be a metaphor - Obama's campaign about change, the president's skin changing color, even my state has changed color. I went to look up the lyrics to Changes, and this link's comment section made me laugh.[/randombabbling]

I don't dislike Obama or the black race. I dislike lazy worthless people that think they are deserved something for doing nothing.

OOOOHHH REALLLY NOW. Well, what do you think when criminals and gang members intimidate people who are just trying to do their jobs and they are so distressed that they quit and live off their savings until they run out of money? Some of us are hard working, but afraid to stay in a bad situation because the people who DON'T EVEN TRY to work, ply their trade of being total Frost-ing douchepurses, sitting on their ass collecting welfare, and when the check doesn't cover all of their expenses for their lowered expectations for quality of life, go out and ROB AND KILL, CHEAT, AND SCAM other people because they can't cut it as a productive member of society?

I may not have a job now, but I will have one soon, and until then I'm busting my ass doing all of the work around here that no one else wants to do.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

So, after BEING RIPPED OFF for the past 8 years of my income-tax-paying existence, YES I feel I am owed something. How about... Oh, I don't know, the MONEY BUSH GAVE TO THE RICH FrostERS WHO ALREADY HAD MONEY IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Make sense? I think not.
"Yeah, I don't think we will have any disgruntled working class as a result of taxing the LIVING Shakespeare-ing Frost out of them so that we can take their money and blow it all on hats. And I'm sure they don't mind paying for the elderly, ANNNND the people who came into the country illegally! They don't have jobs either.

Let me ask you THIS, duder.

Why the Frost do you think the working class should pay for themselves, the lower class, AND the rich-beyond our wildest orgasms?

This better be good.

The problem is the middle class will be hurt more from all of this than the rich. Yes, the rich will be taxed. They won't mind at all because they will just push those costs onto us to make up for the money they lose. In case most of you forgot, the rich are the ones that own the places we go for our life necesseties. They won't be hurting I will gurantee you that. As much as I think it is great that our nation has made a great advancement in overcoming racism by electing our first black President, I think they made a mistake in the one they chose and will be regretting their decision in a year or so.

The problem is the middle class will be hurt more from all of this than the rich.

I don't think economics works the way you think it does.

Yes, wealthy people own the companies (or shares in the companies) that provide everyone with their necessities. But, far more wealthy people own companies (or shares in companies) that supply the american people with their frivolities. The lion's share of our consumer economy is wants, not needs. When the middle class is squeezed dry by health care costs, years of real wage cuts, and credit crunching foreclosures, they can no longer afford to buy all the crap that the rich got rich by selling to them.

I voted for Barack Obama. I feel all creepy now like I just accidentally stumbled across kiddie porn and my grandfather's computer or something. Still, I am pretty certain that I made the right choice because as the election went on, it became clearer and clearer that he was the lesser evil.

At this point, I'm proud of the guy. Becoming the first African American to ascend to the presidency is no small feat and I am even prouder of him in that as far as I have seen, he NEVER made race an issue in this campaign. He let his opposition do that for him with GOP operatives' idiotic "Obama is a Muslim" e-mail campaigns. That shows he's smart enough to know when to keep his mouth shut and let his enemies shoot themselves in the ass.

As someone who has never before voted Democrat, I would like to say that they deserved to win. Not because of anything they accomplished but because the GOP has messed things up enough that it is past time for somebody else to get the chance to see if they could do better. The country's in the Shakespeareter right now and the monumental problems before us easily transcend partisan politics. The political polarization that has been the norm since Clinton's first term will do nothing to help us right now.

Plus, I heard he's making that guy from Soul Train the Secretary of State.

I heard Obama will be taking some time before inauguration day to "sew his royal oats" in Queens with his best friend Remy.

I am sure they will get into all sorts of high jinx as he takes a job at McDowels and learns that love and life are best learned by living in meager accommodations like 95% of the population.

... because the GOP has messed things up enough that it is past time for somebody else to get the chance to see if they could do better. The country's in the Shakespeareter right now and the monumental problems before us easily transcend partisan politics. The political polarization that has been the norm since Clinton's first term will do nothing to help us right now.

Ummmm, contradict yourself much in the real world? Or is that just here, while you rant?

A suggestion, if you don't mind:

If you REALLY want the political polarization to stop, STFU. That'd be a start.

By the way, I never vote based on who might raise or lower taxes.  They never really go lower, and when they go higher, they creep up so slowly you don't notice it.  I've had a job for the last 35 years, and no president or congress has yet raised my federal taxes to a point where I felt it in my check.  And while I don't make any $250,000, I am doing pretty okay.  If I did make $250,000, I wouldn't grouse about the $300 more a year I'd pay under Obama.

Let me make this clear:  You weren’t forced into voting for him.  In fact, most of you morons voted for him not once, but TWICE, even after it was clear he’d been Frost-ing things up for four years.   Because you bought into his bullShakespeare culture of fear and his promise of values (Whatever that means.  Republican “values” seems to mean only your daughter can have an abortion but only if she was raped by you, which is actually surprisingly rare with republican politicians because they all seem to be into young boys instead)

So you voted for him not because you were forced, but because you wanted to lock up all the Arabs, you wanted to kill those Iraqi “terrorists”, you wanted to keep gay people from enjoying their civil rights, you wanted to force your bullShakespeare religion down our throats, you wanted to keep science from progressing in our schools and in our hospitals, and you wanted the rest of your Frost-ing antiquated “values” to become law.

So don’t go crying now about how you were forced into anything. In four or eight years if the country is somehow worse off than it is now than you may feel free to gloat (as I’m gladly doing) and tell us Obama voters where we went wrong. I can promise you I won’t claim I was forced. Until then get the Frost our of our way and let America earn the respect of it’s citizens and the rest of the world that it lost so badly over the last eight years.

And dude, I know we don’t usually agree on stuff but if nothing else I figured you’d at least have the balls to admit you were wrong. The fact that you now claim you were forced into voting for that piece of Shakespeare is really the lowest I’ve ever seen you go, and that includes all those times you told us about your foster kid’s tampons.

Hi I'm a redneck and I voted for McCain.

Is this the right support group?

I like the fact that Obama is VERY well versed in constitutional law, maybe we can get some of our civil liberties back while he is in there.  I am actually for socialized medicine because it could increase productivity and potentially help the economy, so long as they do it right and don't Frost it up.  If they do Frost it up they need to put in provisions to ween the lazy jobless Frosters people off of it.

The whole redistribution of wealth isn't that big of a deal, people will cope, but the big problem isn't Obama. I think he's a good guy, its the crazy Frosters in Congress that you have to worry about spending us into oblivion.

I just can't wait for the first scandal: Obama gives Oprah Oh face in Oval Office!  Gotta love the alliteration.

I am so glad that the stupid election is over with.  Regardless of my political views, I am so tired of hearing political ads on the radio and the TV.  By the end of it I was wish I still had the old TV antenna so that I could jab it into my eyes and ears.

No onto other stuff....

No I didn't vote for Obama, I voted McCain because I don't believe that anyone should be forced to give their money to someone else just because they make more.  Call me crazy, but some people have worked hard for their money and deserve to keep it.  I work for a small company and I am sure that at some point in the next 4-8 years, their taxes will go up, which means that will passed on to the employees in some way.  Also, I do have more in common with McCain / Republicans then Obama / Democrats.  I don't vote blindly for the Republicans but I tend to vote mostly in that line.

I hope that Obama ends up being a great president and does great things with our country.

I hope that we can stop hearing about anyone playing the race card.  I judge people based on their values and actions, not what color of skin God used from the box of crayons when he made them.

Finally...

We were having breakfast in what is literally the only restaurant in W. BumFrost, GA. There's a little TV in the corner and CNN (a right wing station fo sho, but at least it weren't Murdock) was on it with a sign saying "Please do not change the channel."

At one point in our meal, I look up to see Oprah on the teevee. This old lady with hair like a bleached tumbleweed and eye makeup that'd make Tammy Fae look like Edgar Winter approaches my wife and starts telling her the theory that Obama and Oprah are going to hook up and then we'll all be in trouble because Oprah has this church, see, that believes that everyone is God.

I picked up my 3 year old daughter, turned her butt in the old bitty's direction. Right on cue, junior pooted, and we left. The old lady kept jabbering at thin air.

I love living here.

We already have socialized medicine.  It just isn't called that, and isn't well-run or funded.  Here's how it works:  a sick person with no job, no money and no insurance goes into the emergency room of a public hospital, gets treated and leaves.  The hospital jacks up the bills of the paying customers to cover the loss.  There is no winner, because this is a terrible way to try to stay healthy, and the losers are the paying customers and the taxpayers who support the hospital.

We also have corporate socialized medicine, which is where your employer and a bunch of other employers all give part of your pay to an insurance company, who takes a profit and then pays the doctors who have agreed to take reduced payments from them.  The winner is the insurance company, who makes a huge profit.  The losers are the doctors, who take a cut rate and have to allow accountants to tell them how to treat their patients.  And the patients, who get the treatment that an accountant deems most "cost-effective".  Meaning that leaves the most profit for the insurance company.

And for all of you who are worried about taxes under Obama:  do the math.  I did, and I'll have to have my pay jacked up to over $350,000 (not 250) to start being worse off under Obama than I was under Bush.  Even if, by some miracle, I'm making $400,000 while Obama is still in office, I'll only be paying $1,500 more a year than I would be under the current tax code.  That's right:  instead of taking home $3,850 a week, I'll only take home $3,821.  I'm sure you'll all cry for me.

My point is the two party polictical system is corrupt to the core.   We don't really get to vote for someone we would like to have in the white house; our choices are usually limited to those the party insiders want to fund far enough to get past the early stages of the election.

Thus we are forced to vote for the lesser of two evils.  In which case, no matter whom wins, evil still does.

That Butternuts gladly voted for Gore,  Kerry , and Obama while I held my nose and regretfully cast for whomever they had against the first two and finally protested away on the third shows him as the party sheeple that he so loves to accuse me of being.

Whistler, have you ever done the math on how much you actually pay in taxes?

Income

State

County

City

User Fees

Vehicle tag fees

Gas taxes

Sales taxes

Capital gains

And the fact that you often taxed four and five times on the same dollar?

You do realize you're living on a lot less than they tell you you make, right?

You also know that a couple of percents add up to a lot of green over time too, right?   Just ask a couple of sr. cits. out to roll a cd.  You would think a couple of basis points were the drug of the day.

You're probably living on less than half of what you earn thanks to Uncle $am.  And now, you voted to give him more.  Not that he is known to be a good steward of that money.  $500 hammer anyone?  Completely raided Social Security Fund?  Projected 40% income tax on middle income Americans?

Yeah, swift choice.

Of those you listed, only capital gains, federal income tax and some gas taxes are affected by the federal government.  So as far as the current presidential election, my calculations stand.

I agree that our tax dollars aren't well managed, but I haven't yet seen a candidate who proposed a radical overhaul that might actually work.  In the meantime, I'll take incremental reform.  And as your $500 hammer illustration supports, I suggest that the worst managed area of government spending is in the military.  Which is part of the reason I usually vote Democrat.  I believe that they're more likely to cut military spending.  That and the fact that I love negroes, homos and dead fetuses.

I didn't see you complaining about "being forced" to vote for Bush in 2000 or 2004.  As I recall, you didn't start bitching about the republicans until the 2006 mid-terms.

I didn't like Gore or Bush in 2000, so I voted third party.  I voted for Kerry in 2004 because by then I'd had my fill of Bush.

Nobody's forcing you to vote for anyone.

The only thing that the GOP has going for it right now is that it's fractured.  That means there's a good chance that either the moderates will have to move the party to the center, or abandon it altogether.

Unless, of course, the Democrats start getting caught having sex in Airport restrooms.  But if that happens, I'll lay odds that it will be with members of the opposite sex.
