So I joined the Air force today. After I am finished with BMT, I will go on to school and get a degree in criminal justice, after that I will become a Security Forces Apprentice (MP). Any words of advice before I am shipped down to Texas in January? I'm a little nervous, but am up for the challenge, a farm boy such as myself should have no problem right?

Isn't it cute when they're still young enough to have hopes and dreams? I almost don't have the heart to tell him he's going to end up a penniless alkyholic living in a trailor home after he goes to Texas and knocks up some Mexican looking for a way to stay in the country legally.

Air Force, the branch that almost makes the Coast Guard look cool against Texas, where eveyone and their mother(hell, especially their mother) has a couple guns.

Hey kiddo! I went to Lackland AFB for training before I went to Iraq as an IA (Individual Augmentee, a voluntary militia to back up the army and Marines) during my time in the Navy. San Antonio is a friggin blast! The Riverwalk is filthy and crowded, you can taste the STD's in the air at the bars. You'll fit right in.

Oh, and it's hotter than hell down there, so make sure you drink LOTS of beer to keep from ending up in the hospital.

Look, it's the Air Force, not the Marines. You got six weeks of folding your underwear in six inches squares and making sure you don't hide beer in your foot locker during inspections. If you can't get through that, you might as well become a Texan.
