I will not be participating in Gab for a while.

My beautiful daughter Allison Rose died in her crib on Wendsday November 11 2008. She was 12 days old. The doctors said It was SIDS. I know this is not funny but, I have gotten to know some of you and thought you should know why I am not posting. This is not a joke. I thank you for being there creating comdy where there is none. I still check the site daily so anything you want to say is alright. I know it is ment in jest. I will leave you with this.

Cherish your children, THEY are the most important thing in the world.

So was that Wednesday November 12th or Tuesday November 11th?

Also, for those of us you have "have gotten to know", IF this is true, you really should have emailed them so they would know why you weren't posting....although you've been posting since it happened for a few days now. Those of us who haven't "gotten to know" you off-board don't care, otherwise we would be one of the afore-mentioned ones who chat with you.

Anyway. I don't understand why people who have something bad happen to them feel the need to post about it on A COMEDY WEBSITE. This isn't the place for it. If it happened, I'm sorry for you. But I would imagine if someone lost a child, no matter what age, they wouldn't take 3 or 4 days to mention it, and post as if nothing had happened within those 3 or 4 days.

I learned that lesson early on in my postings. I too made the mistake of thinking that personal tragedy belonged here.

Once my skin was burned off my body by the overwhelming responses to my grief, I never did it again.

Dear Bill Squirrel, don't know you from a bar of soap, but when I read your initial post I had a sharp intake of breath and a little 'oh, no!' Then I shed a tear. From my eyes.

I'm not a praying type person but I do feel for you.

Dianandanadnadada..... regardless of what you think should be posted or not posted here, I'm sure some people see GAB (as it was) as a sort of fambly. Dysfunctional, of course! Aren't all families? A sense of family and friendship is also why we do the secret santa thingy. Should anything so horrible happen to you, I hope people here will err on the side of sympathy.

This has been my serious post for 2008.

Okay there are a few things wrong with this.

1. She died on the 11th, but was born on the 1st, 10 days not 12.

2. Yourmade 2 postson the 12th, the day after she died, and you made no comment of her death on either of them.

3. No where have I seen any pictures showing that there was in fact a child, nor have I found any obituaries in San Diego for a miss Allison Rose Phillips.

4. SIDSis most often related to a parent not taking care of a child, whether it be accidental murder, or an elemental condition (cold weather).

If this is true, I am deeply sorry for your loss, and I wish the best for your family, no parent should have to bury their child.

You're an ass. That is completely untrue. I almost died of SIDS when I was a month old. The only thing that saved me is that my cousin was standing there watching me sleep, and realized I had stopped breathing. Sometimes it just happens.

How can you have SIDS with a D? I vote we reclassify Whistler's situation as Suden Infant Near Expiration.

Then we'll need a signal so that hospitals will know on check-in without having to be told. Maybe a wave or something.

But I would imagine if someone lost a child, no matter what age, they wouldn't take 3 or 4 days to mention it, and post as if nothing had happened within those 3 or 4 days.

Just a thought, Dianada. Do you think it's remotely possible that what he meant to type was "12" not "11". If his story is true, I think we can forgive a little typo.

And if you look at his profile, you'll see that he did indeed post Wednesday morning a couple times, and that he hasn't posted since. So there was no "posting for 3 or 4 days as if nothing happened". I mean, there's always a tiny little chance that MAYBE he was on ZuG before the baby died, explaining why there were posts made early that day. And I'm willing to forgive him for taking a few days to get on here and tell us all.

And if he had contacted everyone that he talks to off ZuG privately, then he would have had to go through the pain of telling each one of them and answering all their questions. This was probably far less painful. And so I'm willing to forgive him for this thread.

You have to take the person posting it into consideration when deciding how to react to the news.

If it was Aussie Sarah, I would point out that nobody believed she was pregnant in the first place, and that we kind of figured that we'd be hearing some story to explain why there was never any baby.

If it was Robster, I would would tell the kid congrats on being smart enough to know a bad situation when it saw one and get out while it could.

Bill has never really done anything to annoy me or piss me off, so I'm going to give him a pass on this one and choose to believe him until he gives me a reason to not trust him.

Daggy, while I understand where you're coming from, I hold to my right to disagree. I have had many bad things happen to me. I have also have some good things happen. None of them are funny, which is why I didn't post about them. God forbid something like this ever happen to me, but if it did, I certainly wouldn't post about it. The people with whom I have strong relationships on-board would hear about it probably, but I wouldn't put out devestation on a comedy website, where everything is open to being made fun of. I don't think I could take it.

And Jane, I totally think a typo was possible. Since Wednesday was misspelled, I figured it happened on the 12th, since he was focused on typing "Wednesday". Regarding seeing how often he's posted since this happened, no, I didn't go searching timestamps to see when exactly he's posted - I simply recalled that I'd seen some posts from him more recently than 4 days prior. If they happened earlier in the day of what happened, then so be it. I'm not trying to fight with you. I'm also not trying to be "right". It was a minor attempt at humor, especially in the case of it ending up being a prank.

I haven't posted in this thread since that thread, because I believe him, and didn't see a reason in making another unfunny post in this thread.

Regarding this being less painful - if it is, then good. But there are a lot of Emersons online. I would have done things differently. That doesn't mean I'm right. It does mean that posting on a differently oriented community might have been a better idea.

I just think that even if you think it is fake it would be so much worse to try and prove the person a fraud and be wrong than to accept that they're telling the truth and be wrong. We're not talking about an uncle or grandmother we're talking about someone's baby.

I wasn't trying to pick a fight with you, and I probably should have let it go and not posted anything. But I was wiping tears out of my eyes before I finished reading his first post, and I think we all know that I don't think very clearly once I get emotional. So I'm sorry.

Several people have told me that they can't see my post - I DID type something, but because of swearbot, it appears blank. Stupid new ZUG.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Squirrel.

For all the naysayers - I'd rather give someone the benefit of the doubt in this case - it's so horrible and sad.

My baby brother died as an infant, and I remember how strange my mom was the first few days after that. She wasn't posting on a comedy site, but after an absolutely awful crying session, she went nuts watching some Little House on the Prairie marthon and couldn't be pulled away from it. She had to do something normal to get her mind off the grief she felt right then - she couldn't deal with it anymore. I, for one, am going to cut this guy some slack.

And if it turns out to be a prank, well, meh. I'm not all that sad over it, personally. I wasn't going to steal this particular baby anyway.

Because there are people on this site who are actually friends with each other dumbass. While I may not be part of that social circle, even I can respect the fact that this is a comedy community and people have gotten to know each other and sometimes need support from one another.

If you dont like the tone of the post move on the the 50 other posts that are comedy related you TWAT.

As a strong believer in Karma I must truly apologise to Bill for my lack of consideration in the above post. In fact, I too am truly saddened by the news; and as a father could not imagine a more difficult scenario.

Unfortunately I am one of those people that does not know how to react to bad or disturbing news. As an example, when a co-worker recently told me her dog was run over by a car, I couldn’t suppress the grin from hitting my dial. Not that I found it funny, I just didn’t know how to react.

Needless to say she’s stopped talking to me. Which isn’t an issue really, as I never liked her anyway. She smells like a cross between moth-balls and disinfectant.

Anyway….

So again Bill, my condolences on your loss.

Dear TomServo (et al),

I'm sure Dianada has no idea what you mean by getting to be friends with people through a comedy board, or, you know, maybe marrying one of them. Afterall, she's only been here twice as long as you and 5 times as long as Squirrel. (As a side note, she's also one of Gab's most reliable clickie givers, so I'd try not to piss her off so much if I were you.)

This is a comedy board. Now, that has never seemed to stop people from posting about dead babies (the sad kind, not the funny kind), Kudos suckup threads, IM me now! threads, and hey I emailed you didja get it? threads. There are many days when I wiShakespeare did, but it doesn't.

Behold the birthday thread, a gab tradition (or at least it used to be). I don't even bother going into those things anymore. It's not because I don't still love all my fake internet friends, it's because I ran out of funny and original things to say on people's birthdays about 3 years ago or so. I think a lot of other people feel worn out by those threads too, as the board has gotten sloppier and sloppier about remembering to put them up on time, even when we still had the birthday list. They just got to be a chore rather than creative quirky comedy.

I think Dianada's original post reads as more aggressive and in-your-face than she intended. Writing on the internets sometimes stinks like that. Two things though: 1) not only is this a comedy board, but a comedy board with a semi-legendary notorious death prank in its history, so people are predisposed toward disbelief regarding deaths, fat daughters, etc. 2) often times in this board's history people have tried to "take time out of the comedy" to post something serious or personal, and then gotten all bent out of shape if/when the other people took their tragedy and ran with it. It seems to me that Dianada was merely pointing out any inconsistencies as she saw them as due diligence against #1, and any anger or frustration she conveyed more likely stems from a foreboding that we were all headed for a #2, which would do neither the board nor Bill any good at all.

I will say in praise of Bill that he seems to have had his eyes wide open about posting this news on gab, and it seems he is/was fine with any and all consequences (or has been so far, or how do we know at all anyway, or something) but please, y'all know dang well that that is the exception rather than the rule where it comes to a lot of our users.

I gotta say, I love me some Diana, but I was totally shocked at the tone of her post. I actually did the mouseover and then click-though just to make sure that it really was her, and not someone imping her. I don't think she meant it to sound as harsh as it did. But even if she did, she's well entitled to have her opinions, and it IS a comedy board, so everyone get off her. (With one notable exception.)

I understand why Bill posted this, and I would have done the same. Still, I would have expected the dead baby jokes, because if it's posted, it's fair game. Bill seems to have an open mind about it, and it's probably healing for him in some way.

Dearest Frogpop,

I honestly dont give a Shakespeare how long people have been on the board. If John didn't want more people joining he wouldn't try to market the site, or bother with a redesign. Its like saying that Obama couldn't point something out to George Bush because George Bush has been in the White House for 8 years longer than him. Sometimes idiots are idiots.

I am always amazed by certain elements of online communities that are so resistant to anyone new joining. I can actually visualise the chubby little kid inside these people when I read their posts. (in my minds eye he wears a thong). These are the people that make comments that they would never make face to face because they are cowards hiding behind keyboards. They found something first, or before someone else and that makes them "cool" for the first time in their lives.

Back to the actual matter at hand...

I realise that dead baby jokes are legendary on this site and in the end you take that risk if you post something personal on a public forum that celeberates this. That is Bill's perogative, and I can only assume that somewhere inside he knew that it would be coming and maybe, just maybe he needed people to rip on him so that he would have somewhere to direct the anger that he must be feeling.

Personally I wouldn't post anything personal on any online forum because I have enough real friends and I am not here to make new friends... I am here to read what some truly funny people have to write and occassionally (without much success) try to share something I find funny.

As for the clickies..... Are you being serious with that threat?

Do you really think that anyone honestly gives a Shakespeare if someone stops clicking on their threads?

Do you lie awake at night wishing upon a star that someone will click on your post?

Are you 7, or do you just really need the clothes?

Except it’s nothing like that. It’s like me telling you that you don’t need to tell Dianada that there’s a community here, because she’s been here long enough and met enough gabbers to know this. Spluh.

I am always amazed by certain elements of online communities that are so resistant to anyone new joining.

A) you really shouldn’t be, as it seems pretty common out there. 2) Who said new people can’t join? I sure didn’t. I did say that new people look silly when they try to impart common knowledge to old people. If irrational metaphors help you sleep this is sort of like Obama mentioning to Bush “Oh hey, did you know that the president has to sign a bill before it becomes law?”

I realize that…

Only the first part of my post was really to you, the rest was more for the “et al”.

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for all their well wishes. It has been 6 days since the passing of my daughter and I am going stir crazy. I know I said that I was going to take a break from Gab(I’m will never be a live’r) but, I have nothing to do and reading the posts you guys make doesn’t seem to be enough for me.

When I posted the other day I was in a state of shock and realize that information like this is “Ruining Gab”. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and I love you all regardless of what you posted. Just turning Gab on and seeing that my daughters name was at the top and someone else thought enough to post in her thread has helped me and my wife. We have taken to looking at the thread every other hour or so.

I would also like to address a few things:

 1. 1.)I knew when I posted this that there would be flak. I don’t blame anyone for their opinion and respect Diana for her honesty. Her post helped me as much as everyone else’s.

 1. 2.)I know I jumped on cowboy’s ass and was wrong. He was stating the obvious. There were inconsistencies with my story, he just pointed them out. As for his ignorance, ahh well, come on we’re talking about cowboy, he is as ignorant as they come.

 1. 3.)Jaggy, you made my wife cry. Posts like yours helped us most of all. To know that someone on the other side of the world was showing other people our baby before she died, well, like I said, your post helped us immensely.

 1. 4.)Daggy, are you new? (/bad joke) I love that you yelled at someone for my little girl. I knew the response my post would bring from some people but, your retorts made my wife smile. That is worth a million clickies to me.

If I didn’t mention you it is because the 125 plus posts kind of run together after reading them 125 plus times. Again, thank you all.

Listen, Bill, I have felt horrible about the posts that I made a few days ago. I never meant any hurt or cruelity by them. My day was crappy, and I didn't want to deal with any of the bullShakespeare anymore. Others may call me gay for typing an apology, but I don't care. I have a daughter of my own, and one on the way, and I can only imagine what you and your wife are going through. I know if I lost one of my little angels, I don't know what I would do, like I said in my last post, no parent should have to bury their child, no matter what. I am deeply saddened by the loss of your daughter, and I have been praying for your family so that you guys won't have to feel such heartbreak, and loneliness that you are no doubt feeling right now. What happened is just Gods way of saying that her time was at an end, and nothing you could have done will have changed that. This is not your fault Bill, nor is it your wife's, so chin up, and be happy! Your precious daughter is still with you, and she loves you just as much as your family loves her.

Man, ya gotta love a site, and/or the people behind it, where a thread about SIDS, and a 6 day old infant, generates nearly 2,000 ZUGs. My non-scientific research, (meh, I didn't even scroll past the first 6 threads), shows it to be the all-time, highest ZUG-producing thread, ever. Of all time. Or of 6 threads. Whichever. Again, it was non-scientific, get off my back.

Keep up the good work, folks. And remember, you're mean, Frosters.

I've been on 1 ghost hunt thingy with a small group at a supposedly haunted museum. We didn't have anything like an EMF meter, we just had a touchless thermometer, and a few tape recorders which we left in various places in the house. We didn't see or hear anything that would indicate the place was actually haunted, but it was a pretty creepy museum. One of the manakin's faces had been smashed in, and was holding an axe.

Bill, darling:

I know we have a sort of, well, love-hate relationship (as in you hate me and I love to bother you) but I wanted to give my deepest condolences. I've seen this thread a couple of times, and I didn't know what to say. As a soon-to-be mother, I feel for you. As a person with a conscience, I feel for you. I cannot imagine the pain and sadness that you and your wife are experiencing. I haven't prayed in a very long time, but I prayed for you both this week. I know that "I'm sorry" isn't enough, but I am very, very sorry for your loss.

Love,

If you ever come to hate your wife, Bill, and want her to kill herself you should have her watch this movie. It seems pretty straight-forward at first. And, sure, nobody watching it is going to expect it to be a "fun" movie. But about 2/3 of the way into it, the movie does a complete flip-flop and becomes one of the most depressing things you will ever see. It left me crying my eyes out. Hell, I still tear up when I think about it.

If it does that to me, I image it would take a woman who found her daughter dead and push her over the edge. Good times for everyone.
