Getting Old.

I think I've finaly reached that point where I'm pretty sure everything was better when I was young.

It's even more depressing when I remember I'm only 24 and it doesn't get any better from here.

I'm just sitting on the couch watching Spongebob with my older son and I can't help thinking how many of the cartoons from my youth could kick his ass, i.e The Thundercats, Bravestarr, He-man, Transformers and Thomas the Tank Engine to name but a few.

Also all the treats I enjoy, like candy bars, crisps, ice cream, and take away foods were bigger, less healthy and a lot more tasty.

Sport was much more interesting due to the fact athletes weren't all clones of each other, watching the snooker last night I wished Kirk Stevens (Cokehead), Alex Higgins (Drunken chainsmoker) and Willie Thorne (Gambling Addict) were still playing instead of Shaun Murphy (Born again Christian) and Neil Robertson (Plank of Wood).

I mean take those three and throw Ben Johnson and O.J Simpson in there and you've got the liveliest box social in town.

I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same and what about ?

Or maybe you're all taking Gablive as a barometer and thinking life, like teh funny, is just going to get better and better.

No, but the phone rang whilst I was ironing the other day and I ended up with third degree burns to my ear.

Milk get the Frost off of my train. Those were not your cartoons. You saw them in syndication or the end of the series.

Shakespeare I'm sorry. I'm just all emotional because I want to be a kid again too.

Things were not better in the old days. It's called euphoric recall. People tend to remember the good stuff and bury the bad stuff deep in their subconscious.

The sixties were not a simpler, more innocent time - I was a little kid and didn't know what was going on.

Music in the seventies was not superior to any other era - I was a teenager who spent countless hours sifting through that decade's musical dreck to find the nuggets of excellence that I then listened to over and over.

The eighties weren't the most exciting decade ever - cocaine was just cheap and plentiful.

That's it. I'm not far enough removed from the nineties yet to recall them euphorically. Mostly I remember being broke, trying to pay off debts, and work.

So far, I think the '00's (the oughts?) are the best decade ever.

And I'm about the oldest fogey here, except maybe Daggy.

I remember the good stuff and bury the bad stuff in a wooded area near the river.

What's the Shrink term for that?

If you're burying at least four feet deep, I believe that's called "good sense."

Thomas the Tank Engine

He's a complete Poe. Even Boots the monkey could kick his ass.

I'm 20, and turning 21 next month, so life is still getting better for me! Bwahaha. Honestly though, if cartoons, sugary treats, and sports are all you have to complain about, then growing old doesn't seem all that bad.

I have absolutely no problem with my gray pubes.

I just wish that more people wanted to see them.
