In the list of top baby names, some are ones that would've gotten you daily Melvins and weekly swirlies back in the day.

Ethan? Good god, people, why don't you just name him Sue? Or worse, Gavin?

And Chloe? That's not a girl's name, that's a prostitutes STD. "Dat John gave me Chloe last night behind the Circle K. My cootch itches like crazy!"

Olivia is a cool name. But there can be only one reason why that name is growing in popularity, and woe betide the parent who tells their child they were named after swine.

Good thing Anthony is still in the top ten, because when Ethan starts making making a fuss in public about his soy chai latte not having enough foam, there will be someone to put him in his place.

And with Aedan "soaring up the charts," we're going to need those Logans to keep him from taking over the tool section at Sears with curtains and sheets.

The fastest rising boy name in the top 1,000 was "Jacoby," moving up hundreds of spots to become the 423rd most popular name in the United States last year.

Only reason for that must be The Sox!!!! Jacoby Ellsbury FTW - Shows how Red Sox nation (based in the middle of the hub of the universe) rules the world!!!

I've always wondered if the term "Grogan" came from Pats QB Steve Grogan.

I had both an Ethan and a Gavin work for me this year. It was about what I expected.

Just the thought of moving back to the city has made Al more surly. City Al has managed to kill Country Al. Welcome back, bitch.

My name didnt even make the top like 10,000? I think thats what the count was. Meh. My sons made the top 200 & my new boyfriend Jordan was in there too. Can I still call him my boyfriend if he doesnt know who I am but he has given me an orgasm? I think so.

I love it when you see one of these names African Americanized by adding Sha of Da or Va to the beginning or just changing the first letter.

Real life examples that I have come across.

Varhonda, DaShawn, Schronica I know!!?,
Jarason That one made me giggle

How long before we see a Dalogan,Shakyle or Skateathan. Silly black people.

Al, it could be Olivia Newton-John, or Olivia D'Abo, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Williams or even Olivia de Havilland.

But if I named someone Olivia, it would be after Olivia Munn.

My sister is pregnant. We're Irish, so they wanted an Irish name. She called me and ran through some of the possibilities: Adian, Allen, Liam, Patrick... then she says "there is one we're sort of leaning towards. Declan."

It's not often I'm speechless, but that was one of the times.

I went to get a new name badge from head office the other day and it turned out to be a wonderful experience.

I asked the woman at the counter if she had a "Rob" or "Robert", at a pinch I would've settled for "Hercules".

She breaks out this alphabetically organized folder, flicks to the R's and starts reading out some of the names she has

"Lemme see ... I have a "Ragu", a "Rong", a "Rohan" ... ah here we go "Rob""

WTF ?! When did we start hiring extras from the Lord of the Rings ? I'm not surprised these people haven't been to collect their badges, if I was named after a pasta sauce I wouldn't be in a hurry to let the world know.

And the best thing is that was just one letter, God only knows what else she has in there.

Back when I was still in tech support a user called me with a problem with a kids record.

The name of the child was one of those ebonically enhanced names mentioned earlier, a common name with a prefix added, but the result was just plain terrible.

The common name was Gina. The prefix was Va.

Where ever she is, bless her little heart.

I refuse to believe that Va'Gina story.

Am I the only person who doesn't give a Shakespeare what name someone has? It has absolutely no impact on me whatsoever what someone names their child.

Do I think some names are stupid? Yes, but I don't really give a Shakespeare.

That having been said, I have worked with three different women named Beverly and in the past couple of years I have had three customers named Beverly. All of these women were old ladies. I have never met someone under 70 named Beverly. Were they ever children, or did they just suddenly appear on earth already old?

Since you name the kid before you start reading them kidlit, I think it's more likely to be an homage to the hotness of Mariska Hargitay (while being easier to spell).

Of course, I've only just now heard of Olivia Munn, so I may be mistaken.

I prefer to believe Hot Bev does not really exist. Because she sent pictures of herself to my "boyfriend" and girls that do Shakespeare like that right in front of me really piss me off. I prefer to think she's a fat slob pretending to be a girl--it's not unprecedented (Suzy McMuffin).

I don't know any Olivia Munn either. The only Olivia I know is the character Jayne Mansfield and Tarzan's daughter plays on that SVU show. I like the actress, but the character is always scowling, like she's constipated or something. (Yeah, so am I--Frost off).

I'm pretty sure "Bev" was short for "Beverage" rather than "Beverly".

What most people don't know, however, is that "Hot" was short for "Hotinga" which was the family name of her mom's Malaysian pool boy. Her mom thought it would be pretty for a girl's name.

HotBev does exist, but if it makes you feel any better Millie.. for most of the time that she was here and sending pics and web chatting, she was underage. Once she got overage she was too busy to hang around here. She was dating local air force boys, so I'm sure that worked out well.

HotBev was really popular around here because she not only liked (and encouraged) the attention from the lecherous older men, but she also loved to solicit advice (which she always failed to take) from the wiser kinder men of gab on how to straighten out her life and do right. I used to proofread some of her school papers for her. She was like a perfect storm of Gabbait.

O.K., so which ones are the lecherous ones and which ones are the kinder ones? I think all the old ones here are pretty much lecherous. Most of them are probably kind, too--to young underaged girls.

People wonder why I'm a bitter man-hater. Gee... I don't know.

I play a lecherous old man on the internet, but in real life I'm pretty far from it. I'm happy with what I've got at home. One former GABber gal who sent me unsolicited pics of her barely legal boobies got a letter in response telling her why she shouldn't send nude pics (or any pics, for that matter) to strangers she meets on the internets. So she sent me another set of pics and asked if I liked those better.

Anyone who's tempted should also know that I forward all boobie pics to my friend Morose Mike, who needs uplifting things in his life, and then I delete them.

When I was married, my husband and I could read each other's e-mails. We usually didn't, because they were boring. But they came into the same mailbox.

I have a feeling we were a pretty unique couple.

I was pretty stupid as a young girl. I was out all night drinking and doing drugs with some questionable people, riding around on motorcycles and in the backs of pick-up trucks and whatever. But the girls these days are a hundred times stupider.

I blame their fathers for ignoring them.
