Who's working today?
A comedy conversation by John Hargrave | 07/03/2009 02:11 PM | 101 views
Apparently the rest of the U.S. has today off, for some obscure national holiday.

I was also surprised to learn that Canada also has the day off, so I guess they celebrate the same holiday.

Here at ZUG Comedy Headquarters, we're slaving away, as our bastard Emerson bosses won't give us the day off.

Who else is forced to sit at a computer on this 3rd of July (or worse yet, the 4th?)

Me, but I'm da boss so I let pretty much everyone else that isn't an illegal alien have the day off. Them dirty mesicans need to come in anyway. This isn't Cinco de Mayo. Still, thank God for cable tv in my office. Wish there was more going on in here.

I've been threatened to acknowledge that I love my work, so working isn't really work at all. So I guess that means I'm not really working today.

I didn't work yesterday, but I spent most of the day in the hospital (not MY hospital) with my pregnant sister who was in a car accident. I could barely contain my excitement!

John, you really should talk to someone. No one with a desk job has to work the day before the holiday.

I worked yesterday (3rd) and today (4th) and although I'm not American its still criminal to work on a Saturday, regardless of whether I was just sitting there reading Harry Potter looking up porn.

I sat in front of a computer all day Friday the 3rd and today.

However, my job isn't really a "desk job" even though I sit at a desk. I work in retail.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people would rather go to a Frost-ing store and spend instead of sitting around and getting drunk. What is wrong with people?

I just got home from work. It was 6 hours of standing around and getting "Ooh, you guys are open today? How late do you work? You'll miss the fireworks! I'm so sorry for you!". Um, thanks?

I worked both days in an office - an American one and everything! My office is classified as "essential staff" so we work all holidays, snow days, etc. Though, as a state employee, "work" is a relative term.

I had July 1st off for Canada Day. I took the Friday off as well though, but had to use a vacation day.

I actually went to Lowe's on Saturday because we finally got money to buy a new fridge and we've been just over a week without one. So thank you for working Saturday, even though you don't work in appliances.

I work next to appliances! I stay out of the actual department because I don't want the appliance guy to rip my throat out (they get commission).

It's probably good you had to wait because if you got an energy star refrigerator they were 20% off. You could have used a Lowe's card and got no interest no payments for 12 months this weekend, too.

UGH, I'm not even at work and I've turned into a shill for that damn company.

I actually got a really nice Samsung french door fridge that was on clearance AND 20% for the Energy Star sale! Woot is me! Yeah, I figured they worked on commission from talking to you, and he was an older guy, nice enough, so I didn't mind.

New fridges are nice; but what are you gonna do with the box?
