S.S. Adams is the company that has manufactured prank and novelty items since 1906, including famous gags like the Dribble Glass and Bug in the Ice Cube that every kid dreams of owning. Recently I bought a large number of these S.S. Adams pranks, and put them through a series of tests to choose the Top 3 Classic Childhood Pranks. But would these pranks fool anyone in a real-world setting? To find out, I went to the most boring, adult place I could think of: Starbucks.

PRANK TEST #1: DOLLAR SNATCHER. First I unspooled my Dollar Snatcher (which sounds dirty), and left the dollar beside the door. Even though you can't buy anything at Starbucks for a dollar, I guessed that nobody would turn down a free bill. I mean, it's called StarBUCKS, right?

The first few customers passed through the door without incident, but then came a twentysomething guy and his girlfriend. He bent over to pick up the bill, and ZIP! it flew back in my hand. I gave him a sheepish, "Sorry, gotta write this article" shrug, while his girlfriend laughed at his gullibility.

Success!

PRANK TEST #2: FLYING BUTTERFLY. I tightly wound the rubber band on the butterfly and placed it under a large container of half and half. This would act as a little bit of negative reinforcement for anyone going for the heavy stuff. Next time, they'd unconsciously find themselves going for the skim milk, because their brain would link "half and half" with "erratic, disturbing prank."

Then I sat at my table and waited for quite some time. Maybe because you could see the wings of the butterfly peeking out beneath, but no one was going for the half and half. Finally, a middle-aged guy unexpectedly grabbed the jug, catching me off guard. I tried to snap a photo as the F-Butt spun out in a confused rage against the side of the milk counter. The guy let out a confused yelp, looked around smiling, then kept creaming his coffee.

Partial success!

PRANK TEST #3: STINKY PERFUME. By far the best of the three was the Stinky Perfume, because there was nothing to it. I just opened the bottle and left it behind a Starbucks commode.

The room instantly filled with the pungent odor of Rotten Eggs, and I quickly scurried away before anyone thought it was me. I mean, this bathroom could have curdled milk. It was incredibly, disturbingly stinky.

Of course, I left it in the women's bathroom.

Sweet, smelly success!

These weren't earth-shattering pranks, but they weren't meant to be -- just harmless diversions that provide a laugh or two. But I like to think the real prank was bringing a small amount of laughter into a joyless coffee prison, showing that sometimes the only antidote to adult seriousness is a silly children's prank.

I would have taken the stinky perfume and left it somewhere near where people order, so they associate starbucks with rotten eggs from now on.

Considering they don't even let their employees use cologne or perfume because it deters the smell of coffee.. that's a good idea.

Or you could have dumped the 'perfume' into the half and half. Then those people would associate the heavy stuff, and Starbucks, with the sulfurous stench of Hell.

I'm actually surprised Dunkin Donuts hasn't put someone on this by now.

On the same lines, you could've gone in guns ablazing and kill everybody. Lulz will ensue for sure.

(If screams sound like laughter to your ears, that is)
