Half of you idiots probably don't know that there was actually a person named Les Paul (and not just a guitar), but Frost you. Someone I admire and respect passed away today. Respect.

Wow. One of the real pioneers, gone.
Who's next? Johnny Tremolo? Ralph Fretboard? Victor Wahwah-Pedal?
Sad days, indeed.

Come on, it's not that bad: those guys actually made their contribution to the guitar world before they died. Just think: there might be a guy somewhere who is about to invent an even better and more legendary guitar than the Les Paul or Stratocaster, only he's gonna die before he even builds the first prototype.
Now that will be a bad month for the guitar world, and no one will even notice.

That sucks. With out him we wouldn't have many of the musical innovations that have made modern music possible.
I watched a special that had him, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark knopfler, and several other guitar greats all jamming together on Cinemax back in the 80's.
The influence of your influence is your influence too, even if you never heard them.

I am saddened to hear about this. As a "musicologist" (Something I call myself, music expert sounds kinda smarmy) I pride myself on knowing all about all kinds of music and Les Paul is a hero of mine.

Thank you Les Paul, for the Electric Twanger. With it, much great music was and is made.
Would we of ever heard of John Lee Hooker, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Slash, Chuck Berry, Joe Satriani, or any other guitar great if there first hadnt been Les Paul?
Les Paul, pioneer, inventer, legend...
RIP

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that that little smiley-face guy with the crown on the ZUG Live page is laughing his ass off at this conversation? What a prick!

I don't know whats worse, learning about the death of Les Paul, or learning of his death here because the local news doesn't mention it.
Godspeed Les Paul, I'll be playing Chester & Lester tonight. (Chet Atkins and Les Paul) If you ain't got a copy of this, get one.
