I live in a predominately gay town and I love our shops and shoppers. Here's a sample:

Java Boys = coffee shop
Gay Mart = retail
Bottoms and Tops = clothing
Out of the Closet = consignment shop
Licks = ice cream
Painted Pickle = deli
Neiman Barkus = pet shop
Balls = sportswear and equipment
Thai Me Up = restaurant
Unzipped = clothing
Naked Grapes = wine bar
Hamburger Marys (Rosie's) = burger joint
Alibi = nice bar
Ramrods = leather bar
Cubby Hole = bar: underwear Tuesdays (2 for 1 drinks)
Ruff Riders = clothing
Rock Hard = toys and cornucopia
Boom = nightclub
Dairy Queen = ice cream (but that has been there for decades, so it doesn't count)

Have you been anywhere recently that has a great name?

The name of my town is Beaver Dam, which when combined with unoriginal business owners leads to some of the following:

Beaver Pizza
Beaver Strippers (I was sad to find this was a furniture stripping shop)
Beaver Beats (A local mobile DJ)
Beaver Painting
Beaver Fireplaces

and my all time favorite....

Beaver Liquors

In Atlanta there is a strip club for the ladies called Swinging Richards and down from that is a strip club for the men called The Mouse Trap.

In San Jose there's a bar called "A Tinker's Dam". As you might guess, it's a gay bar.

In Georgia there's a city called Cumming and every business begins with the town's name. Cumming Laundromat, Cumming Grocery, Cumming Spa, Cumming Landscaping, Cumming Daycare.

I stay away from Cumming, those people freak me out.

Dick's Last Resort. I was sad to learn that they took the pornography down from the bathroom walls.

Who doesn't want to look at naked women whilst they pee?

Frost-ing Oklahoma.

That is an interesting name for a store. What service/goods do they provide?

There is a bar in the suburb I just moved to called "Happy Endings."

When I caught it out of the corner of my eye I was sure I read it wrong. I tunred around to go back and look. I wasn't.

It's at one end of a shopping center. There's a Christian book store at the other end.

BWAHA. I was looking for a photo of the place and I found this comment in an article about the place:

Happy Endings Pub is one of Pickerington's recent additions, and it's become popular quickly.

My town is small.

The Liberal Cup--bar and restaurant. Daisypie (the man) takes me to dinner there.

The Wharf (formerly Kennebec Wharf)--dive bar. Last time I was there was on a date with a biker guy. There is usually a band of 40-50 something guys playing. It floods pretty much every spring because it's in a basement right next to the river. I used to drink there as a teen because they didn't card anyone.

Slate's--restaurant. Lately, I've only had breakfast there, but dinner is good, too.

Slate's Bakery--a separate building. I get lunch and cookies there.

Boynton's Market. It's across the street from my house. I usually only buy the paper and soda there. I only go there if I'm not in a hurry because there is usually no one anywhere around the cash register and I have to wait for someone to ring me up.

Hmmm. I meant 40-something and 50-something years old, not a band consisting of that many members. I don't think there's enough room in that place for that large a band.

Oh, and my town is gay, too. Gay and/or hippies and/or drunks.

I miss an old place we used to stop at every summer when driving across the great state of Alaska... Skinny Dick passed away early last year, but I'll always remember his saloon... halfway between Nenana and Fairbanks.

There is also Daisypie, the cat. I would post a picture of her, but I'm too tired right now. She sleeps on top of me every night (the man only does that occasionally).
