its a well known fact that cats will always land on their feet, and no one can dispute the fact that buttered toast, when dropped, will always land butter side down. So, if you strapped buttered toast to the back of a cat, which side would win? in my opinion, I think it would cause perpetual motion

That's an urban legend. In reality, it simply makes them tastier, but higher in saturated fat.
