How to Rickroll Republicans
A funny link by Luke McKinney 1,873 5

After being beaten to death by the Internet, TV, and even the Macy's Day Parade, there are now only two ways to make Rickrolling funny: travel back in time, or increase the bait-and-switch to "fake dog doo inside the Ark of the Covenant" proportions.

Which is why, until Doctor Who gets bored fighting pepper pots, no-one will ever beat the guys who recently unleashed Astleyian power on the entire Birther movement.

FIGURE 1: Power of Rickrolling is proportional to how badly Republicans want the link to work.

For those not up to speed on modern idiocy, "Birthers" insist that Obama isn't an American citizen, and should be removed as President. They want a do-over on the last election, and their entire argument is essentially "but all black people come from places like Kenya!" The pranksters at the Native Born Citizen site, which has been following this debate, posted a hoax news story on the case of Barnett vs Obama, stating that presiding Judge Carter had turned down a government motion to dismiss, and ordered President Obama to come to court.

It's classic pranking at its very finest -- you don't need sophisticated setups or expensive props when the target wants it, and the Birthers wanted it harder than an all-male aircraft carrier in port after two years at sea. This result was the Birther equivalent of finding that Santa Claus is real and he's bringing you a holy grail full of the cure for cancer. Especially since the exact same case had already been thrown out once (and fined $20,000 for wasting the court's time).

They were ecstatic, already discussing how the President was going to forge documents to fix it, or how Obama had declared the swine flu national emergency simply to cover it up before someone "checked" the actual "link" on the news story. And then they saw

P.S.: The real judge dismissed the hell out of the case.

And now the link:

The Birther movement reminds me a bit of a 2000 election predicament of Bush not getting enough electoral votes...and people on the opposite side crying about it for months, even years...hell, some still cry about it on TV. THAT is humerous!
