The Prank As Art (or How To Permanently Pun Pasadena)

California may be placing a permanent pun by the roadside, an excellent birthday prank which turned out so awesomely that the entire community wants to keep it. It's like a Disney movie, except real, and no one has to learn an important lesson about anything. (This does unfortunately mean there'll be no musical montage.) Because now South St. John and Pasadena Avenues join with a fork in the road. Literally.

"Fork me? No, fork you!"

This awesome effort was a gift from resident Ken Marshall, but beware: unless you cured a friend's cancer for their birthday, this story is going to make you sound like an Emerson. A Mr. Bob Stane made a "fork in the road" joke over ten years ago, and Ken personally carved and planted the eighteen-foot wooden sculpture for Stane's seventy-fifth birthday a decade later. Your "quick go buy a card" moments are now officially the worst thing ever.

So far, so funky, but now the city wants to keep it. There are talks with the city council and the transportation authority that owns the ground to redefine it as a "guerilla art installation," on the grounds that everyone who's seen it has either declared it awesome or been the Grinch. As with any event where cool meets paperwork, nothing is sure, but local residents are all in favor of forking everyone who drives past.

Funny link.

All the people who want it removed are basically asking the city to get the fork out.

OH WILL THERE BE NO END TO THE FORK PUNS?

You can now literally be able to reenact a saying by Yogi Berra, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it"
