When setting up a prank, most people are limited to simple ideas that don't take a lot of time or money to prepare. However, there are some intrepid folks who wish to push the prank envelope regardless of the costs. These people, armed with budgets that rival the Gross National Product of Lichtenstein, will go to any lengths to achieve their mischievous goals.

To honor their dedication and contributions to the field, we present the Top 3 Most Elaborate Pranks Ever.

1) Insane Japanese prank on local celebrity

As everyone knows, Japanese pranks are always taken to the extreme. This one makes the rest seem like a whoopee-cushion under your dad's seat in comparison. They told this poor young lady that she would be interviewed on TV, then during the "interview," they set everything in motion.

Gunshots? Check. Explosions? Check. Flaming car wreck? Check. Guys running around after being set ablaze? Check! A lifetime supply of Prozac and therapy for the victim? CHECK!

2) Fake New York Times Prank

Have you ever wished there was actually good news in the newspaper? Well, guerilla pranking group The Yes Men and their friends at The Anti-Advertising Agency have, and when they did something about it they ended up pulling a prank on the entire Big Apple. By printing 1.2 million fake New York Times newspapers announcing the end of the Iraq War and other politically charged but totally untrue topics, they got the whole city's hopes up, only to be dashed when the real paper hit the stands.

It warms our hearts to see that journalists are finally making up stories that make us happy instead of trying to scare the hell out of us as usual.

3) Bunny Burgers

The folks at the late great SPY Magazine wondered just how low American marketing professionals would go to promote a totally ridiculous business idea, and Bunny Burgers Inc. was formed. Enlisting the help of Joe Queenan's caustic wit, writer Andy Aaron set about creating an ill-advised product to see if any PR firms would be interested in helping sell it. They were, and not only did they prank the marketing execs, but also a mall full of curious shoppers as a bonus.

Bonus question: is the shopper at the end who asks if he can take a couple home our very own John Hargrave? You decide!
