April Fool's Day should be a day of celebration, the high holy day of pranking. So what happens when people without a sense of humor try to pull a prank on April Fool's? Sometimes it simply falls flat, but on rare occasions of extreme humorlessness, it creates misery for millions.

The following pranks have to be considered the Top 3 Worst April Fools' Day Pranks of All Time:

1. Uday Hussein Shows His Softer, More Playful Side

Not content with being as dictatorial as his infamous father Saddam, or perhaps being bored with the torture and sexual brutality that was his penchant, Uday showed he loved to pull a prank or two when the time was right.

The Husseins were proud of being the best-dressed butchers

His April Fool's Day classic was to inform an impoverished Iraqi public, who were starved of most luxuries because of international sanctions, that food rations were being lifted and American items were readily available at the local grocers. Oh, how much the Iraqi people must have laughed whilst waiting in a queue for hours, dodging random bombs and suicide attacks just to treat their children to some soft drinks and chocolate -- and then to be told that it was all an elaborate prank.

"I am sorry sir, it was a joke created by Uday."

"Oh he is funny, I must admit."

"Yes, remember when he said we had to invade Kuwait and incur the wrath of practically the whole world?"

"Oh ho ho, that was a good one."

Uday = Bastard.

2. It's Fun to Prank Political Prisoners

Nicolae Ceausescu, President of Romania from 1974 until 1989, is not likely to go down in history as a friendly, good-humored type of man. He created a personality cult similar to that of Stalin or Mao Zedong, and was eventually executed for war crimes including genocide. He was a cruel man who just wanted to be powerful and rich. Naturally, a man like this is not going to inspire April Fool's Day pranks that are actually funny, even years after his death.

After his rule, a national newspaper printed the breaking news that a large group of political prisoners were finally going to be released from a notorious prison, an act of extreme clemency from the post-Ceausescu government (in 2000). Family and friends of the wrongly jailed inmates rejoiced with the news, traveling to the prison to meet their loved ones...

Christmas time in a Romanian prison

But it was all a joke! Ha ha! Take that, 70 year-old Mrs. Lupescu who hasn't seen her grandson for 10 years because he criticized the bureaucracy in a student pamphlet! Prison guards reported the old lady chuckled so much her wooden teeth fell out. Perhaps it was revenge from Ceausescu's ghost, for when he was told that he wasn't going to be sent to prison for his crimes ... five minutes before a firing squad shot him in the head.

3. The Prank That Nearly Started a Nuclear War

The citizens of Iraq have a hard life. They don't want to live a life in fear, wondering where the next car will explode, whether they will ever enjoy stability or democracy, or when they will be left to live how they want. But it doesn't help when they sometimes have idiots in positions of power.

An Iraqi envoy, Abbas Khalaf Kunfuth, brushed himself down and prepared to face the world's press, as his country was being hammered by the coalition in 2003. With so much news, so much devastation, so much tragedy to report, he raised a piece of paper and gravely stated:

"The Americans have accidentally fired a nuclear missile into British forces, killing seven."

Naturally the journalists went crazy, shock and horror streaking across the room. Would the British retaliate? Was it sabotage? Could it happen again? Were the casualty figures correct (only 7 killed after being hit by a nuclear missile)? This was big news, frightening news; it would send shockwaves around the world...

"April Fools Day!"

For his next joke, Kunfuth showed the UN where the WMDs were

Kunfuth = Idiot.

Could it be a coincidence that "Iraqi" rhymes with "wacky"?

Great article, going live on the homepage today!
