Make a mouse go extra slow (and make a person go extra crazy) by changing its settings on a PC. Go to the control panel and click the Mouse option. Then choose Pointer Options and change the speed. Next click on Pointer Visibility and turn on the Display Pointer trails option. Now their mouse will not only move like molasses across the screen, several slower-moving pointers will also trail it.

Mess around with spell check by doing a little Microsoft Word mischief. Open up Microsoft Word, click on Tools and choose AutoCorrect Options. Now type in a common word like "then" and replace it with something completely illogical like "hyper giraffe." From then on every time someone types "then" on Word, it will be automatically replaced with "hyper giraffe." Take this prank up an x-rated notch by making the replacement word something vulgar and/or inappropriate.

This is an easy prank to pull for someone who doesn't know a lot about how computers work (basically your grandmother). Change the screensaver on a PC to the scrolling marquee screensaver. Make it say something scary like "Your computer is infected with the Z3RT5 virus. Don't touch anything or the computer will permanently shut down." Your victim will freak out that their computer is infected and there's absolutely nothing she can do to fix it.

Teach someone a language fast by switching up his Google language settings. Get on your victim's computer and go to Google homepage. Click on search settings (upper right hand corner) and change the language to anything you want. You can choose between traditional languages like Spanish or French or go for the quirkier languages like Elmer Fudd.

It's opposite day for your victim's mouse when you prank him with this one. On a PC computer, go to Start, Control Panel, Mouse. You should see the mouse properties window. Check the box that says "switch primary and secondary buttons." Now the left click is the right click and the right click is the left click. Your victim will think his mouse has a mind of its own when it suddenly stops working like usual.

Stop a mouse in its tracks by pulling off this easy prank. All you have to do is flip over the mouse and put a piece of tape over the sensor. This is a great trick to play on someone when you only have a few seconds to pull something off. If you have a minute or more, write something on the tape like "gotcha!"

Make a computer look like it's broken by messing around with the contrast. After your victim leaves the room, turn the brightness control all the way down and the contrast all the way up. This will cause their screen to look black...aka dead. Bring the prank to the next level by telling them there is a blackout virus going around and it causes instant computer death.

Hide the start bar on a PC computer with just a few clicks. Go to the Start Bar and right click. Look for the "lock the taskbar option" and uncheck it. Now the Start Bar can be moved around. Finish up the prank by dragging the Start Bar to the right side of the screen. Right click on the Start Bar in its new location, choose Properties, and check "auto-hide the taskbar." The Start Bar should now be off the desktop.

Switch around the keyboard letters on a PC without ever touching the keyboard. Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options. Click on the language tab, find "text services and input languages," and click "details." Click the "add" button. You'll see Keyboard Layout/IME. Choose "United States- Dvorak." Now the keyboard will be reset from the standard "ASDF" format.

Mac users are pretty Coleridgey about never getting viruses. Teach them a lesson by pranking their computer. Press CTRL+OPTION+APPLE+8 at the same time to change the screen to a black and white negative version. Reverse by pressing those same buttons again.

Embarrass a friend by doing a fake reply all e-mail. Write an e-mail from your friend talking about an embarrassing personal issue. Then reply to the e-mail above what your friend wrote with something like "that sucks man." Then e-mail it out to all your friends (including the victim). Seconds later send another e-mail out saying that you accidentally hit "send to address book" and they weren't supposed to receive that.

Make someone's computer shut down by changing a commonly used icon into a shortcut to shutting down the computer. Choose your icon (Internet usually works best) and right click on it. Select properties and find the target area. Erase what is written there and replace it with "shutdown -s -s 0" (without the quotations). Now whenever someone clicks on the Internet, the computer will automatically shutdown.

I did this prank to my friend on her computer.
If you go on a computer and see Multi-channel Audio Configuration (should be in the control panel), it changes the sounds on the computer. It makes sounds higher or lower. Change the settings so they think there's something wrong with their speakers, and even if they try to replace them, they wont know whats wrong. Be sure to change it back so they don't keep wasting money.

The sounds can be changed to registered messages. You can record something like: Finally you got to work on time when windows starts or STOP! It doesn't work! for the sounds of error! Ask your boss to use his/her voice and put the volume to the max.

The Simplest gags work best. Ask your victim if they have heard about that new virus that is going around that completely destroys a computer's hard drive and deletes all information. The signs of the infection are a laggy system, loss of mouse control and the screen will flip upside down.

Wait until the victim walks AFK, then (on a Windows OS PC), change the mouse options in the control panel to "Switch Primary And Secondary Buttons", turn on "Clicklock", change the pointer to the "Busy" (aka, Hourglass) icon, and select the pointer speed (under Pointer Options) to SLOW. Click OK to set all of this.

Top all of this off by doing a simple CTRL + ALT + DOWN ARROW and your victim's screen will be flipped upside down. If your victim has a multiple monitor video card, do this for all monitors (they function separately).

To restore, use CTRL + ALT + UP ARROW.

All of this only takes only 10-15 seconds to do under normal conditions.

Be sure to walk out of the room, follow your victim to where they went to to ask a question or get a drink or something. Follow your victim back into the PC room and laff it up. Be sure to let them suffer for a few minutes first, and ask your friend, "You haven't been surfing any porn sites or anything bad, have you?" when they try to figure out what went wrong.

If you want to further along the gag and proclaim yourself to be the hero, tell your friend, "I read about how to fix this...can you get me a blank CD / DVD (or thumbdrive, comp manual, restore disc...anything that gets them out of the room). Then un-do all of your previous changes while they are away, only to return and you, the computer genius, have fixed their PC for them 'just that quick'.
