Who's the funniest person on the Web?

In conjunction with the South by Southwest Interactive Festival, ZUG.com is holding the Funniest Person on the Web contest, to be awarded at this year's festival (March 12-16, 2010 in Austin, Texas)!

ZUG's Funniest Person on the Web Contest


We're looking for the person who made the Web community laugh the most in 2009. In the running are YouTube stars, Twitter celebrities, content authors, Web comics creators, and meme-makers. You can nominate everyone from major Web celebrities to independent content creators.

Here's how it works:

1) THE NOMINATIONS: From now though 11:59 pm EST on February 28, 2010, we'll be taking your nominations below. Submit a brief summary of who you think should be nominated, and why. Be sure to include their primary Web site. Self-nominations are welcome. The funniest three nominations, as rated by you, will each win an Amazon.com gift card for $25.00!

2) THE FINALISTS: On March 1, 2010, ZUG editors will choose three finalists from among ALL nominations (not just the top three), profiling each of them here on the site. We will use various criteria to select the finalists, including traffic and buzz generated during 2010, funniness of the nomination, and who's available for the festival.

SXSW logo3) THE WINNER: From March 1 - March 15, 2010, you can vote on ZUG.com for your favorite "Funniest Person." (One vote per user account, please.) Based on your votes, YOU will ultimately decide the winner, to be announced at a special panel at SXSW Interactive on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.

ALL finalists will be invited to attend a special SXSW session on creating funny content for the Web, where they will share with us the secrets of their comedic genius. The winner will receive a handsome award, a Platinum Badge for SXSW 2011 (a $1,225.00 value), and everlasting glory (value inestimable).

This one-of-a-kind Web contest will draw together the funniest and most creative people creating content on the Web today. Whose funny will take home the money? Post your nominations below!
