Funniest Person on the Web: Dave Carroll A comedy article

Unless you have spent the past nine months hidden in the attic while your father was playing in the backyard with a silver coloured balloon, you have heard Dave Carroll's song, "United Breaks Guitars."
The story behind the song is that Dave Carroll took a United Airlines flight from Nova Scotia to Nebraska and discovered upon arriving at his destination that his guitar had been broken whilst in the airline's custody. After several months of fruitless negociations with the airline to receive compensation for the damaged instrument, Dave Carroll wrote this song and it immediately became a hit on Youtube and on iTunes.
Now, I know, Kanye West would probably burst right here in the middle of my nomination to claim that the Youtube video of a baby dancing to Beyonce's song "Single Ladies" was a bigger hit than Carroll's, but we all know that Kanye West is a douchebag. The baby is not being funny on purpose, and there are dozen of videos of kids doing funny things on Youtube, but none is as original and creative as "United Breaks Guitars."
You might argue that giving the award to a baby would in itself have potential for comedy, but let's face it: you would get tired of it quickly. It would be like watching a kid who's high on sedatives after a visit to the dentist: you watch for a short while, chuckle here and there, and move on. Not to mention, a baby would probably break the trophy a day or two after playing with it.
With Dave Carroll on the contrary, you could give him a trophy that is already broken, and he'd write a song about it.
