RevelationTV is a British Christian TV station. It's a low-budget affair, similar to public access television, with the hosts taking live calls and reading viewer e-mail on-air. Unfortunately, they don't have anyone screening the e-mail beforehand, as host Yemi Balogun found out when he read the following e-mail on a live broadcast:
Does this story sound familiar? No? Hopefully this will jog your memory:
Predictably, this video went viral on YouTube, and then pranksters all over the world began sending in their own silly e-mails. Here's the host of a different RevelationTV program getting Rickrolled on-air:
And here's one of the station's co-founders, Lesley Conder, getting visited by a plague of prank e-mails (much like the plagues of Egypt, but a lot easier to clean up):
I think a better strategy would have been to laugh off the prank e-mails and thank people for the humor, but Lesley took the name-calling route, calling the pranksters "Very, very sad people who have nothing else to do with your lives" [3:20 in the video].
Meanwhile, Lesley is correct that RevelationTV has been catapulted onto a global stage, and more people than ever are hearing their message. We could hear it a lot more clearly, though, if we weren't laughing so hard.
"Very, very sad people who have nothing else to do with your lives" - Video 3:20
The book of Video is usually considered to be nothing more than apocrypha, but I know better. It is usually placed after Matthew, Mark, Luke & John...and Video.
Please pray for my uncle Johnas Grumby, who's tour liner was lost at sea off Honolulu during a three-hour tour when the weather started to get rough and tossed his tiny ship, which was eventually lost.
We can only hope that the ship ran aground an the shore of some uncharted desert isle...
