Nestled in one of Northern California's enchanted Red Wood forests, the Brookdale Lodge was a favorite getaway for some of America's most prominent figures. This changed during the 1940s however, when it became a gangster haven. It's rumored that many of their victims are buried under the floorboards of the century old hotel. Around 1945, a six year old girl by the name of Sarah Logan, the owners daughter, drowned in the small creek that runs through the middle of the Hotels dining area.

Sarah Logan, 6 years old, drowned in this creek over 65 years ago.
Through the decades, there have been numerous sightings of different ghosts at the hotel, but most were of Sarah Logan. She tends to where a blue and white dress, and is often seen standing by the fireplace in the bar. Others claim to have been approached by a crying girl matching Sarah's description asking for her mother.
I will be staying at this very hotel tomorrow evening. (The students at Stanford U. broke their cappuccino machine again). I'll be armed with a $40 Goodwill analog camcorder, an IR flashlight, a pink digital camera and an open mind.
Sooooooo if I see this little Miss Sarah Logan, I'm not gonna scream like a little bitch and run out the front door. I will approach her and, with your help, ask her a few questions.
1. What does the water in the creek taste like?
2. Wanna see who can hold their breath longer? You go first!
3.

3. Don't even think about turning me into some sort of ghost magnet because my wife will kill me so dead I won't even be able to haunt her.

I've always wanted to go there. It's the perfect atmosphere for activity. Lots of limestone and running water. Take an EMF meter if you have one.
And I'm betting that if Sarah makes an appearance, you will scream like a little bitch and run out the front door. Bring extra underwear. Be sure to get it all on tape.

I do have an EMF meter and I'll be taking it with. But it's not a typical kind. It's tuned to 2.45MHz, so it will only pick up that frequency. It is, however, extremely sensitive. These things cost about a grand. We use them to detect microwave leakage in instruments.
I'm also going to ask for room 46. Apparently someone died in the spot that room was built over.

If Sarah Logan has been haunting the place for all those years, and it's a former gangster hangout, then she must know where some money is hidden. I'd ask her about that, and if she doesn't show you, then you're just going to have to raise that pimp hand of yours and smack the little ghoul until she coughs up some info. Oh, and watch out for those meddling kids and their damn dog!

Since there's no chance in hell that you're going to see an actual ghost, on account of them not being real and all, I suggest you go up to EVERY little girl you see and pretend like you think she's the ghost. Take pictures of the parents response and the resulting injuries to your body!

Well that was a total FAIL. I get to the hotel and find that the cool restaurant and bar are under renovation. So all the places any ghost might have been were off limits. I couldn't access any of the old wing either, which was also reported to be haunted.
My room (2203) had 3 TV channels, no remote and no interwebs. And no food. And no beer. So I left and drove about 10 miles souf to Santa Cruz and my trusty Holiday Inn Express.
I did manage to get a picture of the old switchboard though.

Well I spent the night in another reported haunted hotel. These people seemed a bit more normal. They had stuff like electricity, beer and the wheel. Which proved to be quiet a different experience from the Brookdale Lodge in California.
Anyway, the Hotel San Carlos in downtown Phoenix is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman named Leone Jensen. On May 7th, 1928 she jumped to her death off the roof of the hotel. Apparently distraught over a boyfriend.

The Hotel San Carlos was built over sacred ground.
The hotel was built on top of an old Indian school. Many children died at the school in the 1800's. There have been numerous reports of sounds of playing children at the hotel, even though children were not present.
The night in my tiny room at the hotel did not reveal any of these paranormal activities. It was, in fact, quite a typical night as any other hotel stay I've had over the years.
There were, however, three exceptions.
First, during the late hours of the night, I got up from my bed to use the restroom, but ended up coming face to face with...
(que twilight zone music)
the desk chair. It gave me a nasty little cut on the base of my nose between my eyes.(Linky - Warning:Graphic) It's still hurting even as I type this, some 48 hours after the event.
Second was a nightmare that woke me up about 3am. Me and a friend were looking for a stranger in the woods. Suddenly, the stranger came out and I knew he had a gun, though I could not see it. I also knew he was going to shoot me and my friend, and there was nothing I could run to and hide behind. I woke myself up screaming. This hasn't happened to me in years.
Lastly was an ominous sign when I picked my rental car up after my arrival that day in Phoenix.

Be the answer? Before 2? Reading too much into this, THAT'S IT!!!!!!
