Universities were specifically designed for pranks (with degrees as a useful side-effect). Look at the facts: thousands of active, intelligent youths armed with the three things you need to create the best jokes: time, energy, and something else they should be doing. You couldn't construct a better comedy institution without hiring Charlie Chaplin clones to run a banana peel factory.
That's why we're starting a College League, and unlike college football this isn't a cheap copy of the real thing where wannabes hope to get spotted. This is the MAIN EVENT. No one graduates from building a car in the dean's office to land a sweet nine-to-five shift throwing pies at people -- these are the hottest stars of academic hilarity, in their prime.
Our university coverage begins with a hot contender: The UM Patriots.
The University of Michigan Patriots are heroes of high preparation pranks, deploying costumes and co-operation for fast, funny moments.
1. Pac-Man In The Computer Lab (But Not The Computers)
Never has the grid layout of labs and libraries been used so perfectly, nor the "be quiet" rule been broken so brilliantly.
The costumes are creative, but it's the audio component that elevates it: desperate screaming as Pac-Man runs for his life, overlaid by a non-stop "wakkawakkawakkawakka."
2. The Valentine's Day Ninjas
What won't be obvious from the following video is that it's fueled by romance.
But it all makes so much sense -- Valentines are meant to be sudden, surprising, and secretive. Of course it's ninja! The UM Patriots "ninjamajig" Valentine as many innocent bystanders as possible, before disappearing into the night (where they'll catch Cupid's arrows bare-handed, then break them over their knees to prank the god of love himself).
3. Orkin Attack!
How do you know you're not Patriot material?
Because when someone says "Let's do a fake insect exterminator prank," YOU wouldn't have added "AND THEN HE'S ATTACKED BY A GIANT KUNG FU FLY AND GETS THE GIRL!" Any pranking group that includes the better half of Jeff Goldblum's teleporter accident movie, plus the ending of every action movie ever made, is simply better than everyone else.
