Do you honestly think you're not paying them already?

If she has insurance, whoever else has the same underwriter is paying her excess. If you have insurance, I'm sure you have a couple like her, a whole bunch of drug addicts and alcoholics and oodles of smokers who have given themselves a whole host of illnesses you're paying to treat. If you hear of a private insurance company that gives discounts to people who take care of themselves, let me know.

If she doesn't have insurance, she can walk into any emergency room in New Jersey and get treatment regardless of her ability to pay for it. The cost gets written off and (of course) rolled into the bill of every paying customer who walks into that hospital. Plus you end up paying more for her because she waits to seek treatment until she needs a hospital stay.

Idiots who follow the right-wing talkers act like socialized medicine is some kind of horror show. WE ALREADY HAVE SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! The emergency room system. It's just the most ill-organized, ill-funded,ass-backward socialized medicine system anywhere, ever.

REAL socialized medicine would actually save you money by cutting out profit gouging by the insurance companies. So you have nothing to worry about, because that will never happen.
