Email pranks are the lifeblood of an office prankster. Whether a gentle prank like sending everyone in the office an email asking if they feel itchy (watch for people scratching), or more ambitious mischief like sending out an email from the boss's computer shutting down the office early for the day, prank emails are the simplest source for office buffoonery.
Here are three of our favorite email pranks that anyone can pull.
1. The Ol' Scary E-Mail Prank
There are many versions of this prank, which usually challenge the recipient to take some kind of test involving staring at the screen and concentrating deeply. Just when they're in the moment of intense focus, an ear-piercing scream blasts from their speakers, with a horrific image of zombies or demons.
Please don't pull this on children, or the elderly. Watch what can happen to even a healthy young woman:
2. Self Destructing Messages Are Not Just For The CIA
People are gullible. Many will believe anything if it looks official enough, which is why there are so many scam emails. Microsoft lottery? Billions of dollars from the Nigerian government? Child needs a kidney? People still fall for them.
Of course, you can just say this email will destruct, but people will just laugh at your childish nonsense. Instead, send them a message from this Web site.
Your message really well self-destruct ... well, the actual self-destruction is a little anticlimactic, but it will disappear, never to be read again. Try writing an incredibly long, incredibly juicy message and setting the self-destruct time to 15 seconds.
3. The Government Really Knows Everything About You
The best things to send in emails are links. People will usually click on links if they trust the source, and the source is you. There are many prank links you could use, but Driver's License Search is a good one for a friend who may be a tad anti-government, or even a little neurotic.
Tell them that their driver's license has somehow been posted online for the world to see, and they'll be unable to resist logging in to see their license on this official-looking spoof site.
The punchline is, of course, their driver's license with a monkey's face -- and monkeys are always funny.
