Anyone not following @BPGlobalPR is missing the funniest and darkest satire since filling the ocean with oil and claiming that black is slimming. Which they also did.

This prank Twitter account is an awesome example of the enabling powers of modern technology, where the only things you need to crucify a massive corporation are:
1) An Internet connection;
2) To be funny.

No need for a documentary film crew, and certainly no hanging around busy street intersections with unwashed hair getting in the way of people with jobs "because this is important, man." This is awareness through entertainment alone, and it's outperforming the official BP Twitter account ten-to-one.

Even better, it doesn't claim "awareness" as the be-all and end-all, unlike other wannabe-do-gooders who want attention, but fear actual work. The account has raised $10,000 for the clean-up effort by selling "BP Cares" shirts -- which, in true BP PR style, they claim are free (but cost $25 shipping).

Even better, BP aren't trying to close the account. Maybe that's because someone in the company understands what would happen, or maybe they've just realized they suck at stopping things.

The urge to just list their funniest tweets is very strong, but that's exactly what the Twitter account is: a list of funny things they said. So go read it.

T-shirt machine debacle: Day 14. Won't turn off. Shirts are moving beyond grab-ass room into the beer pong dojo.

Just plain awesome. Thanks for sharing, Luke!

For anyone who's a big baseball fan, probably the best fake Twitter account is Cyborg Hanson.
