We've covered Improv Everywherequite a bit here at ZUG, generally because their stunts are incredibly awesome. Well, this one is no exception.
With little more than some spray chalk and orange vests, the IE crew managed to divide a New York sidewalk into two lanes: one for "New Yorkers" and one for "Tourists," then managed to convince people it was legitimate. By far the best part is how the whole thing became an Internet frenzy thanks to a simple photograph that nobody could source, leading up to a reveal at the Mashable Media Summit that it was the work of IE and artist Jeff Greenspan, a "self-appointed city planner." Running a close second is how polite yet firm they were to both New Yorkers and tourists, instructing each to stick to their respective lane, and ne'er the twain shall meet.
A perfect commentary on how a city treats its tourists, as well as the divide between the natives and the visitors. And also incredibly funny.
We're just worried that New York City might actually get ideas from this one.
