The Junk Mail Postage Paid Prank

Most of our pranks are friendly fun, but there's also the Disney-movie style of stunt: legal, physically harmless, and aimed at comical villains who totally deserve it. That's the idea behind the Office of Strategic Influence's "Dear Bulk Mailer" prank.

It's so polite! And look at this lovely lead weight he sent us!

Make no mistake: direct mail spammers are insulting you with every cent they spend on sending you stuff. They know you hate it, they know we're going to need those trees later, and they know that the vast majority of their mailings end up in landfills on top of all the stupid yellow phone books: they've consciously decided that the average fraction of a cent they make per mail is worth more than your time.

Show them it isn't.

It's like IKEA for pranks!

Think of it as compensation for all your unpaid labor filtering unwanted crap from your own mailbox. (And speaking of crap, remember that it's illegal to send poo, unless it's properly labeled.)

Pretty funny.

I've done some work with mass junkmail similar (but they don't expect anything mailed back), and they may send out 100,000 letters, and a 3% response rate they consider a huge success.

By all means make sure and keep your return address on there.

Excellent way to get dropped from their list quickly.

I have done this before.

I'm in the process of re-doing the garden so I think some lucky schmuck is gonna receive a nice big freezer bag full of fertile, So Cal soil. It's really more of a "thank you" if you think about it...

Well as fun as sending in bricks and random junk is, I think to piss them off more you should fill ONE box of the years crap of fliers, pre-approval credit cards, and all those fun little spam mailing items ...... soo all of it in one box and at the end of the year the last one you receive gets the honor of being pranked. I just hope it's not something like Children International but, then again how can kids live off of 22 dollar a month, let alone an week.

Don't those kids get picked up by the war lords to become the next ak toting victim.

Could you use them and scratch out the address to send regular snail mail to anyone for free?

Make sure to scratch out any codes on the business reply envelopes that don't appear to belong. Some businesses use them to keep track of which customer the envelope came from.
