AACK! Cathy Guisewite to retire Cathy comic in October.
Cartoonist Cathy Guisewite has announced she will no longer be producing her long-standing autobiographical cartoon, "Cathy."
Thank God!
Since 1976 this insipid drivel has fouled the comics pages of newspapers across the nation.
Although supposedly feminist, this cartoon has only succeeded in setting back the cause of women with it's focus on her weight, her lack of self-esteem and her groveling, subservient relationship with her ersatz boyfriend Irving.
In a time of international terror and economic uncertainty, at least we can breath a sigh of relief that this maudlin, annoying piece of drivel has finally breathed its last.

The death of this strip will sadly only spawn another crappy strip about impossible-to-satisfy people and their need to bitch and moan about anything they can convince the other lonely and dissatisfied people to listen to.
I dream of the strip where a person is simply satisfied with there current situation and only longs to celebrate it out loud, laughing in the faces of all of the people who are sad and endlessly disappointed in their lives. Maybe Kanye West could write it.

a strip where people are satisfied with there (their!!!!) situation.
It's called "Rose is Rose," and it's medium sucktacular, not totally, completely, thoroughly sucktacular like "Cathy."
One that is even less sucktacular, is the (usually) excellent "JumpStart: Featuring Joe and Marcy."
