Help me, Obi Zug Kenobi
A comedy conversation

I had to re-Image my home PC about a week ago, since evidently causing people who steal his products grief by bunging up the Registry is Bill Gates' idea of a practical joke, I now have a Firefox issue.
It used to be that after using CTRL + to increase the text size, it would stick for the session in that tab. Now it doesn't.
Should I FDISK again?
Secondly, does anyone know the provenance of a CD called "Windows 3-in-1" ? A co-worker gave me this years ago, and I use it to boot to DOS and run FDISK to remove the disk partition prior to re-Imaging.
Somehow, what appears to be a standard CD diskette manages to hold ~1.2 Gb of things like Partition Magic, Boot Magic, VolumeManager, Norton Ghost, Spinrite, password recovery tools, Power Toys, as well as what appears to be full install versions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Thirdly, does this look infected:

What? While Obi Wan is hanging there Darth Maul hits his lightsaber against the ground instead of killing him. He totally could have won that fight, but instead he just stood there.

Okay, I am now conphused by Phla (did you just hear that sound? A thousand voices going, So what else is new?).
I always thought your dislike of embedded pictures was because you posted from a cell phone and couldn't see the pictures because your phone didn't support Java or some other Muslim island, and that it caused the pages to load slowly and with a tag saying, Upgrade to something that doesn't run on kerosene, Ms. Luddite, but now I find out that you actually do see these pictures.
I'm now having to completely redo my Phla Diorama (PhlaDi) based upon this new information. What else is going to come out? You don't actually live in Arkansas? You're not an ultra-marathoner who lost his thumbs to an IED during the Persian Gulf War? You don't like Red Stripe (Hooray Beer!)?
Is it possible that they also lied to me about that whole Work Hard, Do Your Best, and Jesus Will Loan You Money For a Camaro? Is it possible that there is no Santa Claus and unbaptized babies do not get reborn as Siberian Husky puppies?
I'm going to need some time alone to think about this.

Mein Kamphl: An Essay On Why I (Mostly) Hate Pictures
I hate two kinds of pictures. Gross ones, and stolen ones.
Gross ones:
I want to be able to DECIDE if I want to see something gross. The mouseover used to be my best friend. If your url says http://infection.com or www.wierdassheadbumps.org, I'm not going to click on that. You are free to, but I would like to not subject myself to that. However, if you throw a picture of it in the middle of a thread, I cannot get around that. It is there and cannot be unseen.
Stolen ones:
I'm sure I'm mostly alone on this one, but I really hate when the picture is a self-contained joke stolen off the web (ie lolcat, motivational poster, etc), owing nothing to your own creativity other than the ability to cut and paste. It's like me performing a concert where I play a Beatles record and then accept all thrown panties. This is a good comparison and you know it. It's all about getting credit when credit isn't due. It's not your damn picture. Be creative and spend an extra five seconds to make your own joke, and I will throw my panties at you.
When it is your own picture, when you've added your own caption, when you're using a picture in a way in which it wasn't originally intended and/or it's not going to make me throw up and/or doesn't look like a christmas ornament, then we're cool.

So, no one can help me with my Firefox problem: I increase the text size using CTRL and +, but if I refresh the page, it changes back to the default font size. This so startles me that I immediately poop myself and I now have dried poop all over my legs.
That last statement may or may not be true, but I'm hoping I get a few orbs because of it. Yep, the dried poop on my leg is reaaallllly starting to itch.

I have a similar problem with anywhere on a web page that has a radial button you're supposed to select. Zug and other places. This is only occasionally happening, but the buttons just don't show up and I have to guess where they are. Then, when they do show up, I don't want to click them anymore.
It reminds me of being a woman.

So, no one can help me with my Firefox problem: I increase the text size using CTRL and +, but if I refresh the page, it changes back to the default font size.
Try this:
1) Open a new tab in Firefox
2) Type "about:config" in the address field and hit ENTER
3) Be careful
4) Type "browser.zoom" in the filter field (no ENTER)
5) Make sure the three entries* have "true" values**
6) Close the tab
*"browser.zoom.full"
*"browser.zoom.siteSpecific"
*"browser.zoom.updateBackgroundTabs"
**RIGHT CLICK and select "Toggle" to change from false
DO NOT DELETE any of the complete listings; however and if need be, new "true" boolean entries may be added for any listing that might be missing...
Sorry if this comes across as overly simple or condescending...

You can't tell me what to do!
I agree with some of the stolen pictures are not original. However (I'm serious because I italicized), a well timed "stolen" picture can be funny. The poster may not have created said picture, but instead took the time to search, save, store, and wait to unleaShakespeare as a witty comment.
I do agree that gross embedded pictures are increasing the sales of eye bleach and I too miss the mouse over option.
Thirdly and lastly, potatoes are yummy in any form.

Phla has a very good point about getting orbs for posting a funny picture that we didn't create ourselves. I bet if we eliminate the inline picture function, our content will be more original and we'll be much more deserving of the orbs that we do (or do not) get.

In real life, I will laugh at a joke someone has told me - whether or not they've made it up, or are are simply recounting it for me. If their delivery is good and it takes me by surprise, I'll laugh.
The second time I hear the same joke, I tend not to laugh, or laugh as much - unless the circumstances are slightly different, and it becomes a running gag.
The third, and any additional times I hear the joke, especially from the same person, I tend to want to stab them, but do tend to restrain myself.
