The Snow Labyrinth Prank

The most powerful pranks are those that understand an obvious little fact, and use it to control people's behavior more powerfully than a hypnotist holding their children hostage. For example: people hate getting their feet wet, so they'd prefer to walk on a path, instead of through thick snow.

No matter where that path goes.\

The shortest distance between two points is a what?

This Polish prank turns selfless behavior into endless entertainment: one man with a snow shovel clears a vast, winding path full of switchbacks and angles, ending in a loop. It doesn't actually go anywhere, and people are so programmed for pathfinding they'll not only walk all the way down -- when they get there, and get annoyed, they'll turn around and walk back up the path rather than cut straight across. So every time someone complains about being scammed, show them this video and they'll admit "Yeah, we humans probably deserve it."

There has to be a faster way

We don't know what's at the bottom of this hill, but people are so intent on getting there it must be the fountain of youth or an Apple launch.

Not that they'll ever get there

You know another funny snow labyrinth prank? That final scene from "The Shining." Now THAT was hilarious!

This is flippin' awesome. I'd love to do this around here and watch the outcome...

But I'm too damn lazy to go do all that manual labor, so I'll just continue to watch real people do it on the Internet.

This isn't a real Labyrinth at all. There's no David Bowie anywhere!

What I always wanted to do was to create a large maze out of snow and while people are going through it, create new walls and knock down others, maybe even get some people trapped in a closed loop. Could also be done with a snow covered hedge maze, at least it wouldn't need as much show.

Or, if you don't like the cold, you could do it at the office using cubicle walls.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I see a new Lemmings video on the horizon.
