Graffiti is normally less "practical joke" than "prosecutable vandalism," but sometimes it succeeds. The key to comedy-fitti is to upgrade existing objects or messages, and most importantly to be funny. Here are our votes for the Funniest Graffiti of All Time.
Upgrading other people's graffiti is the perfect paint-prank. What are they going to do, complain that you defaced something that wasn't yours?
One company that really didn't think things through. (Probably because the company doesn't exist.)
We can only hope this security camera was on an auto-rotating swivel mount, so the guards could read that tag several hundred times a day.

You have to admit, it's a step up from "WASH ME."
The great street artist Banksy painted this piece on the wall of a sexual health clinic in Bristol. (Ironically, this graffiti is now worth several million dollars.)

The more awesome prank would be to rig up a hand dryer so it really did dispense bacon.

There is a graffiti outlet by my house. Not the good funny kind like these usually. They keep painting over it to no avail. I'll have to take a pic and post it (Its on the expressway though in a changeover to a different expressway so it'd be hard to do)
It says:
"I Hate myself when I'm not doing graffiti"
